Distorted sound in Parasound A23 power amplifier
Really hard to guess on this one. My guess would be the amplifier, or you are overloading the input of the pre-amp. What is your source and what voltage output does it have?
How far and wide? NSMT speaker placement
FWIW I have a 19.5 x 13.5 x 9 ft room. Speakers are 6 feet from wall behind them (short wall)... If you can or are able to try the long wall, sometimes the bass is better. Always worth a try if you can.

BTW, I had this issue with my Mac402 amp. The attenuator did the trick.

Wouldn't the XLR 10 db attenuator pad attached to each of my XLR cables work? Yes, it would.
Active Crossover Conundrum!
@russ69- I assume you could use a 2 way by using a passive XO between midrange and tweeter and have the ability to tweak the Bass/Midrange intersect.  You can do that of course but a full active crossover might be more efficient.

The drivers are worth more than that if they are working. I have 4 woofer towers and they work well with other loudspeakers (with a proper crossover).

5 or 6 feet out is not unusual. 15 feet out works for some speakers but not all.
Magnapan LRS with subs
Try to move up to the 1.7s, it’s a much better speaker. Or a LFT-8.

I am going to disconnect XLR’s and try the RCA’s first thing in the AM. Then I’ll try connecting the wire for the ground between the Mac and Sim… If you have the RCA option, that will be 3db down and might solve your issue, if not see above.

@kingbr OK are you ready to solve your problem? I think the high gain of the XLR connection or amp/preamp combo gain is your issue. A 10 db attenuator will kill that.  You might have to use a XLR to RCA adapter to make it work in your application....
Active Crossover Conundrum!
No, you cannot use a two-way crossover on a 3-way system. If you are going to tri-amp, you’ll need a crossover where you can control the crossover point and the gain for each speaker. The DBX234xs is an affordable choice.
Nearly all manufacturers do not advertise/exhibit their product measurements? Why?
"...all I get for cable and tweaks are subjective reviews.  Are there no good measurements/tests for them..." Cables put different loads on the amplifier as does the loudspeaker. So a proper test for a cable's sonic signature would be to use an...
Nearly all manufacturers do not advertise/exhibit their product measurements? Why?
The reason for not providing infinite measurements from the manufacturers is a simple answer. Most engineers feel that non-engineers can't interpret the data. Secondly, the sales staff writes the specification, not the engineering department, pret...
Tubes, cheese, wine and cognac
Some tubes sound better than others in each individual application. Why? No clue.
KT-150 Tubes- Push Farther or Replace?
Not holding bias is a clue that those tubes are done. Time to replace.
