How much is about the recording I would buy your list. But I would add a class A+ for my audiophile favorites like: The Holly Cole Trio, Mapleshade Art of the Ballad, Mindy Smith, and Famous Blue Raincoat.
Starting from scratch in a large room I’m more than happy to save the money if that’s the case. I don't shop in that area so I can't help with the details, but your budget will buy some really nice multi driver arrays that will push enough air to fill the room. You should have no b...
Dust Settled Consensus- is the Benchmark AHB2 an Audiophile Amplifier? It is a very capable amplifier and I have had the pleasure to audition. Dead silent just a bit to sterile for me. The guys at ASR love it. From what I read, I think this is accurate.
Starting from scratch in a large room The challenge is that I have a very large room, but I can’t use floor speakers or standmounts--the speakers will likely have to be on the built-in bookshelves I’m sorry but I won’t sugar coat it. You’ll have a $15,000 dollar system that will so...
How much is about the recording I've posted this before, but I asked the question: Can you hear the noise suppression pump in and out on Diana Krall's "Garden in the Rain"? I got few responses, which meant most people don't hear that. It's easily heard on my reference systems bu...
How much is about the recording Are these systems super bright? Or what does resolving mean here? Yes, they tend to be towards the brighter side, but you can have full high frequency extension without being too bright. Resolving is detail retrieval, that happens across the wh...
How much is about the recording @russ69 What was tuned up? How was that done? Are these systems super bright? Or what does resolving mean here? Well, it would take a book to tell the whole story but there are many ways to get where you want to go. The way I do it is find the...
how were copies of vinyl made in "third-party" countries ...if it's not that tricky why are there so many versions rated so differently? If you run the Stampers or Mothers too long, don't watch your vinyl temps carefully, or run substandard vinyl, quality can suffer. Cutting the Masters is done early...
how were copies of vinyl made in "third-party" countries Pressing vinyl is pretty much a 3rd world process. It's not that tricky. The process is Masters, Mothers, and Stampers. The Masters are cut on a lathe using audio tape as the source in the old days.
How much is about the recording ...which partially explains why I listen so much more to my secondary outdoor system than I do my main rig... I put together hyper critical systems for decades. I was chasing the Holy Grail, but my enjoyment was diminishing. Somewhere along thi...
Focal Sopra 2 or Sopra 3? I'm not too keen on many systems people put together but I have to give yours a big thumbs up. It's exactly the direction I would go. So having said that, if there is a way to swing a pair of Sopra 3s, I would do that, but I would not be too disap...
How much is about the recording Seriously? what direction would that be? if it sounds great with one recording, then it should sound great with 90% of them. Or maybe my system is “not resolving enough”? Yes, seriously. I have no idea about what system you have or how resolvi...
Where to now.? I'd would need to know your complete system before I would recommend any path for improvement.
How much is about the recording The key is to get the music you like to sound as good as it can. If you take your system too far in one direction, you'll end up with 3 CDs that sound extremely good and everything else will sound terrible.
Sonus Faber Lumina 5 vs Klipsch Forte IV I'll just throw this out here, I have not listened to either and the Forte has a new mid-range driver that I have not heard. But in general terms Klipsch does not spend a lot of money on their drivers and I think that hurts their performance. The ... |
