What is the best audiophile speaker for a tiny square room? " What amps do people suggest? "Quicksilver Sixty Watt Mono amps would be my choice. I run Mini Monos with my Martin Logans or Triangles and they are sweet sounding amps.
What is the best audiophile speaker for a tiny square room? " Keep the SoundLabs, upgrade the amplifier! "In a small room you don’t need 200 WPC. A good 80 watts should drive about anything. I like tube amps but that will not help your issue. I’m not sure what amp to recommend but even my Parasound A21 did...
What are some of the downsides of owning a Magneplanar .7 or 1.7i ? The main issues with Magnepan are that you have to put them where they need to go in the room, not where you would like to put them. They also need to be feed properly and will suck an under powered amp dry. Other than that they are very robust lo...
Klipsch La Scala 2018 or the Triangle Cello? "Perhaps you haven't heard the current generation of Klipsch speakers. They do the imaging trickery and finesse better than older klipsch offerings. The new Cornwall IV is extremely hard to beat in it's price range." Oz I have not heard the new...
Your thoughts and experience with getting the best FM reception/signal? A good antenna is key. If the stations you like are near, a simple dipole works fine.
Klipsch La Scala 2018 or the Triangle Cello? "I think I am going with the Cellos since my room is relatively small and I don't need that crazy sensitivity. "I don't think the LaScalas are in the same league. The Klipsch can do loud and punchy but they will lack the finesse and 3D imaging of ...
Musical Fidelity / B&W bad match? "Generally speaking both MF and BW on brighter side of neutral"That's not my experience with the A3 and similar amps. I'm thinking it would be a good match up. Worth a try at least and I could switch cables to get the final tuning.
Cary SLI80 as just a preamp? You just use the subwoofer outs to drive an amp but I see no way to not power the power tubes. Generally they like to be connected to loudspeakers but if you set the bias low and aren't driving the amp section it should work. Definitely not ideal ...
The value of a good FM tuner?......, now and in the future... If you have a good strong FM channel nearby, then a tuner is a good option. If you don't have any good stations, it's worthless. I bought two tuners not long ago just because we have a station I really like, I listen all the time and I don't have ...
change amps or speakers I run a pair of Martin-Logans ESLs with Quicksilver Mini-Monos. I was surprised that the M-Ls played loud and were easy to drive. I played that system for years and the amps are still in use. Not sure what happens if you drive the amps really hard...
Unbelievable 3-D imaging sound Yes, pull them out into the room a bit more.
Different Tubes for low listening levels? @russ69 awesome advice thanks. Do you feel the speakers can make up for tubes or room treatment? Speakers are everything but your question is vague, can you ask it in a different way, not sure how to answer.
Different Tubes for low listening levels? I think good low level sound is more loudspeakers and tune-up than it is the tubes. Some loudspeakers do low level better than others.
How to judge a preamp's sound A reviewer usually uses equipment they are familiar with, not just throwing random gear into a review.
The conclusion I've reached about speakers "You have to remember that the same audiophiles that think they hear a difference in speakers..."Perhaps a hearing test might be worthwhile.... |
