How does solo piano help you evaluate audio gear? - higher and lower scale in frequency range than any other instrument. Perhaps right after the organ. Bagend makes an Infrasub organ loudspeaker for 8 hz and small pipes can go beyond hearing.
Looking for a warm sounding amp or integrated with a torodial transformer Without spending too much money I'd start with AudioQuest Type 4 speaker cable, the Rocket 33s are more detailed but not as warm. And from the DAC to the Sphinx, I would use a Kimber PBJ. I might suggest a Cardis 300B but that might be too warm an...
Speaker placement I’m also considering going to monitors on stands with a beefy sub instead of omni directional towers. If you want to play, you have to pay. Blown tweeters are the first sign of an amp driving into distortion. A big amp will be an eye opener for...
IRS2092S based projects I can't help but just for future information. The accepted format of audio power for easy comparison is the WPC, both channels driven, for the frequency band of 20-20K, into 8 ohms, with acceptable distortion for the design, usually .1 or less for...
Looking for a warm sounding amp or integrated with a torodial transformer The Sphinx is a pretty warm amp already. Let's see if we can get you there. What loudspeakers and source are you using?
Speaker placement but mostly love trying to feel like I'm at let's say sitting up front at Pearl Jam at Madison Square Garden. Thanks for reading and any thoughts. Tekton Moabs, subs, and a pair of Parasound A21+. At your volume levels, finding the sweet spot is...
Oh Ye of Little Format R69-The SACD had two layers- One is SACD the other is CD. I'm not an expert but I have heard of discs in the SACD format but taken from a Redbook CD data set. It lights the SACD light up but the resolution is Redbook CD quality. I don't have th...
Any vintage radio collectors? Looking to buy an art deco era working radio. Floor standing or a Tombstone? Art Deco with FM might be a tough one, the art deco period ended before FM radio got a foothold. I'm not an expert so I could be wrong on that point. The radios are everywhere. One of the best places are old radio/el...
Oh Ye of Little Format A lower end system wouldn’t have the resolving capability to hear a difference. What? You mean a Radio Shack bookshelf and a Realistic receiver isn't state of the art?
How does solo piano help you evaluate audio gear? Power, weight, and scale.
Tracing vintage equipment serial number #39nnn 1) do they keep track of audio exchanges, and Probably not unless it was re-registered with them. 2) what is a GOOD contact info? Contact Us - Thorens USA I’m not really sure what you are trying to do? See if it is stolen?
Oh Ye of Little Format The cuts were removed from the same CD using different layers. Not sure what that means. You were not playing the original source?
Underpowered? I learned than an amp wattage is not just how loud it can get, but that it affects the quality of the sound even at lower volumes when output wattage is waaaay below the max. The measurement guys don't believe this but it's true.
2 vs 8 tubes in preamp, sound difference? So, tell me, how does one learn soo much about audiophiledom. Putting together and upgrading many systems really helps. As does visiting very high-end dealers with great sound.
Tracing vintage equipment serial number #39nnn how should I trace a particular audio component - well-established brand - using its serial number? Contact Thorens? |
