Clearwave Symphonia 72R Speakers I have Salk SoundScapes which also have RAAL tweeter with Accuton midrange. I know what you mean about enjoying TV much more. They really make an mazing difference. Jedk, I did listen to the 72R at the RMAF 2011. I was disappointed with the sound ...
Review: Salk Sound SoundScape 8 Speaker Thanks for the kind comments Dale.I haven’t tried adjusting the weights of the passives. Jim Salk did that and I haven’t had any reason to want to change that.I am in love with the Raals. The sound from them is so clear and smooth. I am 65 and pro...
Review: Salk Sound SoundScape 8 Speaker While we are waiting for Bugredmachine to respond, I will chime in. I have SoundScape 10s. The bass cabinet has one and a half inch walls and is braced like a son of a bitch. It has opposing passive woofers which keep vibrations canceled between t...
Good speakers under 10K. I wasn't at the CAF. As to sound, I wouldn't totally discount ANY speaker as show conditions are often not very good. Still some speakers do sometimes manage to overcome show conditions to sound good.Bob
Good speakers under 10K. The Philharmonic 3s are only $3.5k new and they probably would meet your requirements. One guy has highly reviewed and respected speaker that are $22k and $15k. He likes his Phil 3s better. The Phils have the most natural midrange that I have hear...
Floorstanders with a large sweetspot I second the Philharmonic 2 recommendation. It has a very large sweet spot. Any place in the room will sound great. It will go close to a wall as suggested, but since some of the sound comes out the top module and bounces off the front wall, you m...
Review: Salk Sound SoundScape 8 Speaker Interesting review, but it took me a couple of readings for me to tell that he liked the speakers. I just had trouble translating his terms of “American Sound”, “Force Speaker” and “Impressionistic” into things I could relate too. Since I happen t...
Review: Salk Sound SoundScape 8 Speaker Very well written review! It makes me ashamed with my American education. LOLI think Jim Salk will be showing the SoundScape 8 speakers at AKFest this weekend. I am sure they won’t sound as good as in your heavily treated room. They won’t be drive...
Aesthetix Callisto sgn. Volume soft I have a Calypso. If the Callisto is like my Calypso then there are jumpers in it to change the gain level. My Calypso sounded much better when I increased the gain.Bob
How do you tame a Denon DL-S1? I love the comments. Thanks for the suggestions. To keep you up-to-date I have been tube rolling with my Dodd phono preamp. I put Amperex Oranges in the first stage and JJ’s for the output drivers. The sound is incredible. It reminds me (in a VERY...
How do you tame a Denon DL-S1? Raul, are you suggesting that I should get a used Threshold FET 10/e or 10/pc?Bob
If you had $2000 to upgrade this system... Thanks for the update. Please let us know how it works out. Inquiring minds want to know. ;)Bob
How do you tame a Denon DL-S1? The Jasmine looks interesting. I see the MC gain section is in two copper boxes. I wonder what is in those boxes? Transformers?Bob
How do you tame a Denon DL-S1? Raul,What about using a head amp? I have a Solo head am that works good but it is a bit to romantic and veiled. Would the MF RM4 or the Picolo be better? What phonostage would you suggest?Bob
How do you tame a Denon DL-S1? The Denon specs that I have seen show 0.15mv. This is very low but not that far out. The Denon 103r has .25 and my old AT OC9II was .4mv. It actually works in my Dodd phono preamp which only as 50db of gain. I do have to krank up my Calyspo preamp... |
