Nakamichi DR-10 Cassette Deck Repair
Hope you get it fixed.  I've had one for about 20 years or so - - still plays/records great.
Clear vinyl vs. regular black vinyl
Some years ago M. Fremer tested a vinyl demagnetizer.  He found some sonic benefits in demagnetizing "regular" (black) LPs, but none with clear records.  His test results are interesting -but how many of us have a spare $2 or 3K to spend on such a...
Adding "Internet radio" to home system
I use Grace products, including this one:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08QKV2BNP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1It's small and inexpensive, but currently unavailable - which isn't unusual.  Grace seems to do small product...
How far over the limit can I go
As I've posted in other threads, I own a PrimaLuna integrated amp that senses when a power tube is about to fail, puts the amp in safe mode - - and tells you which power tube is the culprit.  In several years of ownership that feature has kicked i...
Non-fee Internet listening, FM stations, etc.
OP mentioned WDCB - which I agree is an excellent station with good sound on my internet radios/tuners.  Another is KKJZ - - great jazz programming and very fine sound.
Does Anyone Use a Portable CD Player as Their Source?
I dug up a battery powered CD player and listened to it . . . during last month's big freeze in Texas - and the attendant power outage.  So they have their niche, and given the circumstances I was happy to have one.
Which VTF Scale are you using?
I use a 20 year old WallyScale.  While it is somewhat Rube Goldbergish, it still works quite well.
Primaluna Prologue Premium CDP
ricey - I've noticed the warm discs - and given it a passing thought - but I can't say that I am concerned.  Many cds - quite a good number played many times over during my ownership of the PrimaLuna - and all is well.
Primaluna Prologue Premium CDP
ricey - I wouldn't be concerned about warpage. Hasn't been a problem with my unit.  Let us know what the Upscale techs say after your hear back.
Primaluna Prologue Premium CDP
I've owned a PrimaLuna CD player for almost four years.  Use it daily.  After an extended session, the discs do seem to become quite warm. If you're concerned about possible ramifications/complications, contact Kevin Deal at Upscale Audio.  (I sus...
How to go about collecting Classical Music
edcyn - larry1  mentioned internet radio in this thread, and that is an excellent resource you may also want to look into.  I've got a couple of freestanding internet radio table models (one in the kitchen and another in the bedroom, plus a small ...
How to go about collecting Classical Music
I meant to add - - the Penguin Guides are organized alphabetically by composer, and for each composer categorically by type of composition (symphony, concerto, chamber, vocal, etc.) Versions of the same work are graded, more or less, in descending...
How to go about collecting Classical Music
Regarding determining which classical recordings are *best* - - for many years the go-to source was The Penguin Guide - the most recent edition I have is the 1986 iteration titled *The Penguin Guide to Compact Discs, Cassettes and LPs*. It's a pap...
Tube Novice Encounters First Hiccup
I suspect you've got an iffy power tube.  I own a PrimaLuna DiaLogue Premium integrated (with a BTI light in front of each of the four power tube sockets).  Over the six or seven years I've owned this amp, the BTI has proven its worth on two occas...
Biographies
*The Concise Baker's Biographical Dictionary of Musicians* by Nicolas Slonimsky.  Of course it's not limited to a single composer, but at almost 1,400 pages it is packed with a lot of good information.  And the author's style is very charming.Ther...
