New hum in preamp power supple and BPT 3.5 ??? I had a similar problem. In fact, my amplifiers (Levinson 436's), sub-woofer, and BP-3.5 were all humming. So, I installed dedicated properly grounded 20 amp circuits with Hospital Grade Outlets. Problem solved.I think the BP-3.5 likes to be fed 2...
Please give me your 2 cents...budget 30-50k Haven't heard the N801's, so can't comment. Another speaker I wouldrecommend is the Joseph Audio Pearl.
Monitor Audio GR60 vs B&W Depends on your taste, but IMO, that is WAY overkill. Very little comes out of the rear speakers in most movies and the ones that have all the stuff coming out of the rear speakers, only have it coming out every oncein awhile -- and the ones that ...
Monitor Audio GR60 vs B&W I agree with Cohn. My point is that it is relatively easy to get the GR 60'ssounding good. They *are* more efficient than B & W's and will take lessamplification to sound good, but if you feed them well, they will respondto quality components ...
Please give me your 2 cents...budget 30-50k I'm not crazy about B & W until you get to the N803 and especially the N802. I also think a lot of people buy B & W and then fail to provide theamplification necessary to make them work properly. But, I was just throwing out suggestions --...
Any subs that calibrate for the room? What you *should* be looking for is a sub that gives you the ability tointegrate it into your system, with control over crossovers, and maybe anequalizer to set it to room your room. In that case, I would choose aRevel B-15 performa. Great Sub. Yo...
Any subs that calibrate for the room? calibrating is so easy, there's really no reason to break your neck looking for self-calibrating speakers or subs. Don't know that I would trust itto be set correctly for the room, etc. If a goof like me can calibrate --believe me -- anyone can.
Please give me your 2 cents...budget 30-50k Stay away from Proceed. It was great gear, but the company is havingtrouble servicing it. For your surround processor, get the Lexicon 12B.For your amps, Levinson 436's. Get them used. I believe the warrantyis transferable. Speakers? B & W N80...
Monitor Audio GR60 vs B&W Monitor Audio GR 60's are nice speakers. I would not be happy with any B & W speaker short of the N803, but -- that's just me. The B & W 803'sare a slightly better speaker than the Monitor Audio GR 60's, but they will cost you a LOT more m...
Headphone Recommendation? >>the HD580s (for much, much less than $159)<<Stinkfish -- where did you get them? I'm thinking about giving somemore away as gifts. Thanks.
Joseph Audio RM 25si vs Sonus Faber Grand Piano I heard the Joseph audio line with CJ tube gear and it sounded plenty warm. I heard the Sonus Faber Grand Piano Homes with a Plinius SA250 MkIV. IMO, these are both fine speakers, will both give you detail, etc. I would *not* say they are at *oppo...
Headphone Recommendation? I have the Sennheiser HD580's and I love them. Got them from a dealer who advertizes here on Audiogon for $159 [new], which is the best deal I've found. The 600's sound a little bit better, but they are quite a bit more expensive, although the sam...
need some suggestions for Acoustics Blues Charley Patton *is* the beginning. The recorded Delta Blues traditionstarts there. The recordings were originally done on cheap plastic likeall "race" records and these recordings were recovered when producerswent door to door in the Delta and fou...
Joseph Audio RM 25si vs Sonus Faber Grand Piano I prefer the Sonus Faber Grand Piano Homes over that particular Joeseph Audio speaker. But -- you should listen to both of them before you make your decision.
