Is there any one piece of vintage gear you most wished you owned? A mint pair of Altec Lansing A7, or Dunlavy SC-VI. But I'd need a BIG room as part of the deal. So $200,000 ought to do it.
Inexpensive speaker cables: any experience? I like Paul Speltz's Anti Cable stuff. It doesn't work on every configuration but I've had good results here and there over the years. Cables make an obvious difference but it's system dependent and more money doesn't always buy better performance...
Speakers with a slightly warm midrange The different Audio Note speakers I've heard have tended toward a warmer presentation.
How important is it that all cables come from the same manufacturer? Asked another way: Do electrons know or care what is printed on the outer PVC jacket?
Anybody else notice... Infiltration from the east.
QLN Speakers anyone I've owned QLN Signature Splitfield IIs for almost 25 years and they're excellent speakers. I heard the latest from QLN at CAF 2019 ... don't recall the model, but it was one of the best sounds at the show, for me. Similar in presentation to Audio...
Bob Carver Going Direct. Whose Carver fire plume has been bigger than 8 inches?
Linn Audio My first ‘serious’ system included the LP12 and LK1/LK2, bought new from my local dealer in the uk. Now I think of them as having shifted their emphasis more towards ‘Lifestyle’ products, designed to look great and serve multi-room functions, rath...
Dunlavy SC IV Speaker- Any Good??? I spent 3 years trying to find an 'upgrade' for my Dunlavy SC-IIIs. Not an easy task. I still regret selling them even though I finally landed some speakers that advance a little on what the SC-III's do.
Looking To Match A Tube Amp With A Pair Of Audio Note AN-K/Spe I've heard Audio Note speakers at Deja Vu Audio in Northern VA and Vu had them set up with a Synthesis integrated amp. They sounded very, very nice. The Synthesis brand has been on my radar since then. Deja Vu struck me as being the model of how a...
K-horn won't fit, any other corner speakers recommended for a big room? I wouldn't put Logans in corners against the wall, nor any other dipole speaker. You're on the right track with Khorns, make it work! Go with newer model Khorns which are fully enclosed and should allow you to pull them off the wall and out of t...
Bob Carver Going Direct. The PR says 'closure of Glass Audio America'. Isn't that Wyred 4 Sound, or at least their manufacturing arm? What's going on FFS?
Atma-Sphere vs. Supratek I've never understood the fascination with Supratek. Why import something from Australia when you can buy a better product on your doorstep? I owned the Chardonnay a few years back and it was just OK. It was far from transparent, didn't really of...
SPL Audio I've read from different sources that their phonostage is a real dandy. Haven't seen one on the used markets for a while, so that might be a confirmation.
Power regeneration - good idea? PS audio? I really like my PS10. I live in the boondocks, no neighbors, a transformer stuck on a pole outside my house - nice clean electrical supply, etc, but the PS10 still manages to make my system sound better. |
