Basis Audio Fans I moved from an Origin Live Resolution MKIV with all factory upgrades to an older Basis Audio Gold Standard vacuum, with Graham 2.2 arm (via a Feickert Woodpecker/Kuzma 12 VTA), and the Basis vs Origin Live argument presented above is silly. Two v...
Dr. Feickert Blackbird I'm sure the Blackbird is a fantastic table, I owned 2 Volares and then the Woodpecker - solid performers. I had the Kuzma 12 VTA on the Woodpecker and wasn't too keen on it, mostly it never felt stable when cuing and it was a bit of a pain chang...
Just my observation - seems like there is less listed on AG I’m more inclined towards buying/selling locally nowadays due to the high costs and risks associated with shipping. Audiogon is not friendly towards local transactions. I might want to see or hear something before I agree to buy it. I might be hap...
Why should audiophile deniers be allowed on an audiophile forum? People are out of control.
Selling gear with TMR I’ve bought a few things from them over the years and the experience has been fine. I don’t like that you don’t complete checkout on Audiogon, you get routed to their website and, in my case, they slapped on sales tax which I hadn’t seen mentioned...
The magic of outdoor listening I’m fortunate not to have neighbors. I can’t imagine being on the receiving end of some of the crap that I play.
Wine, audio, and music. How many of us Aphiles enjoy wine when listening to music? @jond of course, it’s delicious. Here’s the tomato (darker) and peach after being transferred from the primary fermenter into the 3 gallon carboys. Then here’s a pull from before Christmas, about 6 months in… And now from about a week ...
The magic of outdoor listening I’ve a cluster of 4 silos across from my patio that I’m considering turning into subwoofer systems. Basically adding 2 or 3 large bass drivers to the silo doors. I’d then take my old Valencias outdoors or maybe pickup some larger horns. A projecto...
Wine, audio, and music. How many of us Aphiles enjoy wine when listening to music? I make my own wine from stuff I grow or stuff I can scrounge from the neighbors. I’d an overwhelming tomato crop last season so I made a 3 gallon batch of tomato wine. It’s just starting to approach maturity and tastes like a dry sherry. I made 6...
Optical vs Ultra Rendu. I run the SMG/Sonore setup and just added optical units purchased from Amazon for $150. Basically the TX/RX come in pairs, for about $60/pair. I used two pairs and have them between the switch and i5 and the switch and UltraRendu. I can't say ho...
Scams abound There’s a scammer posting an ad for a Lumin T2 presently. As far as I can tell, it first landed here on Saturday. Listed for $1500, about half the usual asking price, photos taken from an eBay ad of the same unit listed for over $3000. The add w...
Danny Richie "fixes" the Linkwitz Arion loudspeaker You mean Ritchie rips apart another classic speaker without ever hearing it, replaces a bunch of parts with different parts and gets it to measure….. flat? Another day another dollar another speaker neutered. God help us all in this hobby.
Experiment, Experiment; What have been your most successful finds? SPRINGS.
Is there any one piece of vintage gear you most wished you owned? A mint pair of Altec Lansing A7, or Dunlavy SC-VI. But I'd need a BIG room as part of the deal. So $200,000 ought to do it.
Inexpensive speaker cables: any experience? I like Paul Speltz's Anti Cable stuff. It doesn't work on every configuration but I've had good results here and there over the years. Cables make an obvious difference but it's system dependent and more money doesn't always buy better performance... |
