My pet peeve: "revealing" speakers
@mahgister- I thought I was being quite clear; in that clean and ample AC, vibration control and room acoustics are PRIMARY, in my experience and different from tweaks.                          ie: "It’s been my experience; only after those (the a...
My pet peeve: "revealing" speakers
@mahgister- The article does mention clean (I’d add ample) AC and vibration control, which, "aided" the author in obtaining greater system resolution.    Though I’ve always considered both those and room acoustics (per Sabin, etc) primary, far as ...
My pet peeve: "revealing" speakers
In no way do I intend this to be an exercise in semantic gymnastics, but- I’ve often used the terms, "resolving" and, "revealing" interchangeably.      ie: A really, "resolving" speaker will be found, "revealing" of whatever is correct or incorrec...
An Odd Question
This thread made me think of a close friend, with a collection of guitars, banjos and dobros, many of which are displayed on the walls in the room adjacent to his system (10’ wide opening, between rooms).     He generally has his favorite Martin a...

To warm up or not to warm up, and...?
If you’re not actually hearing a negative impact in sound/presentation with your ears: don’t let it bother your head.      iow: Relax and enjoy!
VAC 70/70 III Owners......6SN7, 300B Recomm.
"Can I use one RCA + one Rayheon vt231 for each channel? Thanks."      Yes and that's preferable, compared to using the exact same tube, in both positions.
VAC 70/70 mk3 tube rolling question
Typically; being certain to not use the exact same tube for the first two stages (same channel) of your power amp, will provide a better presentation.     The most referred to 6SN7 comparison (http://www.dehavillandhifi.com/6sn7_vt.htm) mentions t...
Soundstage gone
Careful there, Iviv.       Some naysayers will try to have you shamed, silenced and culturally cancelled, for even mentioning burn-in/break-in.     Happy listening!
Is Break-In essential and potentially dangerous for the Audiophile?
You forgot to say, "TRUST ME!"
Soundstage gone
At first read of your original post; a swapped connection, in one channel at the cart, was my thought, which was addressed in the first response.       Crosstalk, caused by incorrect azimuth setting, is another ambiance information (sound-stage &a...
Is Break-In essential and potentially dangerous for the Audiophile?
"A manufacturer of tube amplifiers believes their amps sweeten with time, while playing music (though no specific break-in period is recommended). However, this manufacturer also believes the use of aftermarket "break in" machinery and discs IRREP...
Has anyone ever had to repair a Magnaplanar?
You can probably sell the kids, for enough to cover a new pair of Maggies.               They're much cheaper to feed!
Should I upgrade my Tubes

Should I upgrade my Tubes
An easy, more noticeable (generally) and less expensive way to enter the tube-tasting whirlpool, than swapping power tubes: a change of the preamp tube.      There are a number of nicer 12AU7/ECC82 tubes, that will change the Cronus’ presentation....
