Correct Way to Invert Phase
"polarity" refers to +/- connections (ie: at the speaker or amp).  "Phase"  refers to the motion of the speaker cones, relative to the recorded signal.    Reverse the polarity at either end of the speaker cable and you've reversed the phase, at th...
I blew up my receiver. Now what?
None of the devices you listed have a power transformer, designed (or wired) for one specific voltage.    A transformer designed/connected for 120V + plugged into 240V = toast (typically).
Absorb or Diffuse Behind Listening Position?
What mijostyn said +1, but for the middle of the room position.    My present seat is right at 35% of room length, from the back wall, with Auralex absorption and LENRDs behind me.    Diffusion behind the speakers.    Some tips: (http://arqen.com/...

How the hell do you select a tube?
Here are a couple compilations, regarding the presentation (etc) of various 6922 iterations:   (https://www.head-fi.org/threads/6922-tube-review-17-top-6922-6n23p-e88cc-cca-7308-e188cc-tubes.76107... )    and: (http://www.audiotubes.com/6dj8.htm) ...
Genalex Gold Lion 12AX7 - different grades?
The Gold Lion re-pops are made in Russia and their reliability- much better than the ____, coming out of China.          Ask any reputable tube monger, for the facts.      Still: +1, far as NOS valves and their sonics, over anything currently manu...

Science?     We don't need no stinking science!          Gimme That Old Time Religion, Gimme That Old Time Religion......(ad nauseam)
Bias setting
Recheck your amp’s bias after it’s been playing music, for an hour or two.      Don’t have anything playing, while you’re taking the measurements, just to be certain (but- stay within it’s nine minute window).      Check again after a week or so. ...
A Couple Little Things I'm Wondering About
Experimentation is (and always has been) the basis of scientific discovery.      It works in your listening room, as well (whatever the topic).       KUDOS, to those so disposed!
A Couple Little Things I'm Wondering About
"What is this obsession with technical explanations?"       Perhaps: because the OP ASKED, "And if you know do they make sense from a PURELY TECHNICAL standpoint?"         The views, discoveries and measurement methods of modern (20th Century and ...
A Couple Little Things I'm Wondering About
The religiously obtuse can't differentiate; how DC and AC currents each affect electrons and Electrical Drift, in a conductor.      Apparently, repeating the same erroneous, classical doctrine, is somehow comforting.   "Trust me, brother, AMEN!"  ...
A Couple Little Things I'm Wondering About
With AC; electrons don't drift at all.     They oscillate over a distance of a few micrometers (.0000001 Meter = micrometer), without movement along the conductor.
A Couple Little Things I'm Wondering About
Gimme That Old Time Religion, Gimme That old Time Religion...... (ad nauseam)      They’re still trying to evangelically compel those electrons ("charge carriers"), through a conductor (HALLELUJAH!).        Anyone interested in today’s science, ca...
A Couple Little Things I'm Wondering About
Anything on which your cables rest can add it’s constants to their dielectrics.    That changes the permittivity and permeability.      If you’ve spent money in an attempt at bettering your reproduction, on good cables; you’ve detuned them (ie: re...
PSA 3 Phono Stage Pre-amp... VS ...Hafler 110 full pre-amp with phono
The Hafler DH110's phono stage (alone) contains 10 electrolytic capacitors which, if they haven't been replaced, are between 35 and 40 years old.     Of course; there's no harm in experimenting with it.    If I had two phono stages; I certainly wo...
