the natural sound of a cymbal Are you looking for the sound of(let's say) Paiste, Sabian, Meinl, Zildjian or Wuhan? Further: If Meinl(for instance), their Classic, HCS, MCS, Candela, Generation X, etc. Series of cymbal? Every brand, and all their individual cymbal lines, will ...
Impressions of PS Audio GCPH Hello again Mr D- I checked both the manual that came with my unit, and the site(url) that I posted. Both have pics of the GCPH. My manual(15-044-11-1) does not mention anything about discrete or Class A anything. I suppose the blurbsheet(url) I p...
Impressions of PS Audio GCPH I agree, regarding the X-former location. Ideally; the entire power supply would be in a separate chassis, but- we ARE talking about a sub-K unit here. I know that discrete use of TI's EMI/RFI shielding can make a marked difference, within the uni...
Impressions of PS Audio GCPH I've experienced no noise problems at all with the GCPH. That's set at it's highest gains, inputting a Dynavector 17D3(.3mV output), with SR's Tricon Analog phono leads. I run my TacT 2.2X at 99.9 and use the GCPH volume control, which is generall...
x-tronic 4000 soldering station Mr K- Absolutely NOT the kind of thing I want, hanging in the air about my soldering station. In this first reference; they mention that Teflon begins off-gassing toxic particulates at 464, and emitting six toxic gases at 680 degrees F(plus a few ...
x-tronic 4000 soldering station Mr K- Actually; I've never seen any recommendations regarding temps, from WBT. I started using Wonder Solder about 15 years ago, and found it worked wonderfully at lower temps than I was used to. To me; that was desirable, as dielectrics(like Tefl...

x-tronic 4000 soldering station Maybe I'm missing something here? Kester and WBT solders are now the same formulations/fluxes, and I should believe Kester over WBT(regarding WBT's product)? Of course WBT will still perform at 700 degrees F. The issue is whether it will, equally ...
x-tronic 4000 soldering station Like I said, I've been soldering at slightly above the temp on the WBT 0800 spool, without any problems. I would not have bothered commenting, but for the fact that the OP is using the same solder. These guys recommend 250 degrees C, as the ideal ...
x-tronic 4000 soldering station If you are using WBT 0800(4% Ag); the melting point is 178/180 degrees C, according to my spool's label. No problems, at all, soldering at just slightly above that temp. If the lower limit of a soldering station is 180 degrees, so what? You can al...
Fuses that matter. @M- I AM!
What do I do with these Cartridges @Timlub- Here's something that you may find of interest: ( http://www.vinylengine.com/turntable_forum/viewtopic.php?t=22847 ) Personally; I would find something more rigid than a cactus needle, though weight is certainly a major factor.
What do I do with these Cartridges The Ruby does not sound anything like a 17D. It didn't when they were both brought out(23R-$310.00/17D-$650.00), and the Diamond has been improved, more yet, as of late(17D3 version). Damaged Karat Rubies bring about $50.00(average) on eBay. The R...
Speaker grill material, any real difference? @Wino- A thin bead, from a hot-melt glue gun. Work fast, as the glue cools quickly. Trim excess material with an X-ACTO #1. Done correctly; it's a whole lot neater than any other method. |
