How to "break-in" new speakers?? The Harley that I rebuilt in '99, still sounds the same as it did then. The two SEAS L26ROY 10's that I installed in my bass system, two weeks ago, do not. The judicious application of a low freq signal, is helping their suspensions, "break in." T...
What is a high end stereo SUPPOSED to sound like? Three with Foster, only it should sound like it's being played in the original venue(ideally, if the microphone technique captured the room acoustic). But then- who am I to say what your system should sound like to YOU?
Beware MSS Hifi, avoid Fraud They did me a favor; advertising the VPI SDS online, at a REALLY good price(new). I was able to get a local VPI dealer to match them.
Replacing 6550s with KT 88s Mr P- Kevin Deal(Upscale Audio) sells both of those tubes. His testing, matching and burn-in procedures are second to none. The last set of Winged 'C's, that I purchased from him, lasted me over four years(at hard labor). I've since gone back to t...
Replacing 6550s with KT 88s If you are after a warmer, tubier presentation; you'll be happy. If you like your sound cleaner/less colored, stick with the Winged 'C' 6550. How old are your 6550's? The comparison(new tubes to older/worn tubes) might not be a fair one.
Power amp + CDP: is that enough? It depends on the max output voltage of the CDP and the sensitivity/available power of the amp. If the CDP can drive the amp to satisfying output level; you'll be fine, and will avoid whatever colorations a preamp might add. YES: try it!

Best finger food for audiophile listening Depending on the anticipated length of your sessions; you MAY want to go easy on the humus and cheeses. Transient, spontaneous ambiance anomalies are likey to occur otherwise.
VPI SDS speed issue MR M- Go here: ( http://vpiindustries.com/manuals.htm ) Right under the SDS Manual listing; you will see, "Calibration Mode for SDS." Either open or save that file, for the info you seek.

Fuses that matter. @Tweak- AS IF this thread hasn't become convoluted and ridiculous enough?
looking to purchase AT6006 tonearm lift or similar Hello Mr T: Is your trip wire in contact with the tiny magnet(situated between the two wires), when your Raiser is locked down(ready for action), every time? If not; the slightest vibration can trigger it. I had to bend the trip wire(CCW) slightly...
looking to purchase AT6006 tonearm lift or similar My first Safety Raiser lasted 30yrs. When they wear out; they simply don't lift, or lift quickly(what mine did). Neither will damage an arm or cartridge. I suppose, if I manage to outlive the two I own now; I'll try the Q'UP. Having to use a piece...
