Which resistors to use for KT88 output tubes
Another point on your bias resistors: Find 1% tolerance pieces(but, you probably already know that).
What city do you live in?
@ B_limo: I never have seen the post from TP. It seems quite a large number of individuals highly desire classics, such as an original '58 Pan. That's why they command such high prices, here and especially abroad. Happy listening & fortune in ...
What city do you live in?
@ B_limo: What kind of insurance do you have on your Panhead? Smith, Colt, Beretta, HK, Ingram, Desert Eagle or Glock? Caliber(s)? The Duo-Glide didn't come out until '58. Yours must be REALLY special! From the ghetto of IndiaNO-PLACE, IN
Confusion
Yes, you CAN listen to those formats, via the BDP-95. Read the portion of this spec sheet, regarding, "SACD" & "Additional Disc & Media Formats": (http://www.oppodigital.com/blu-ray-bdp-95/) For FLAC; just load the files on a USB drive, an...
Capacitor question
@David- I included, in my last post, a link to instructions on the quickest and easiest way to cook caps, outside of an amp.
Capacitor question
@David- Teflon has one of the lowest Dielectric Absorption rates, which makes it one of the best dielectrics out there(next to air and vacuum). It also takes the longest to burn-in(worth it though). This little item removes a lot of the pain: ( ht...
Harry Pearson HP No Longer at TAS
Thanks for that link. I've been a TAS subscriber, since 1980, as well. I still chuckle when remembering the Yamaha B-6 amp, that copied the Carver M-400 Cube's 'Magnetic Field Technology'(without permission/licensing). TAS said, "They recreating t...
Is an Apt preamp a good preamp for my setup.
Personally- I'd send the unit to either Angelfire or Audioproz and have it checked out. They could tell you it's generation(via the serial number)and if it has been updated. There are 70-some caps in the piece that can make or break it's sound. Th...
Is an Apt preamp a good preamp for my setup.
The Holman pre was a ahead of it's time, regarding presentation(for a SS design). If you can get it for less than $200; this is a good place to get it updated: (http://www.angelfire.com/art2/stereorepair117/holman.htm)
Upscale audio advice
Can't swear to how hard the BAT pre's run their tubes, BUT- I've had the same six early 60's, Siemens CCa's in my VK-D5, for over five years(they were NOS), without a single problem.
Upscale audio advice
Viktor may have been hesitant to recommend any certain tube, because you may not appreciate the difference in presentation. All of the tubes that you referred to, are direct replacements for the Russian 6H23, as they are all iterations of the the ...
Good lookin' speaker drivers
To me; transparency is of major importance, in speaker systems. Thus, I've always preferred planars(as mains).
WHAT RECORDINGS MAKE YOUR SYSTEM SHINE?
Sheffield Labs, 'Track & Drum Record'(DTD).Sheffield Labs, 'I Got The Music In ME'(DTD). Crystal Clear, 'San Francisco Ltd'(45RPM, DTD). Analogue Productions, 'Folk Singer'(45RPM, 200g). Sheffield Labs, 'Growing Up In Hollywood Town'(DTD). Nau...
My new apartment has no 3 prong plugs with ground
@Mr J- I should have prefaced/qualified that statement with, "In most older homes:" OOPS!
break-in--bane or boon ??
INEVITABLE!
