Non-Latching or No Latch Female XLR Connector
Hi Otto- I do agree that those receptacles would seem an unnecessary inconvenience. If you are pleased with the unit's presentation, it's might worth converting. Not really much in the way of expense and an easy swap(if you can solder). Then again...
Non-Latching or No Latch Female XLR Connector
I can't think of a benefit, unless the equipment/cabling was in a location that allowed for tampering. The solution would be to replace the chassis receptacles with the latching types. Personally; I would choose from those with either silver or go...
Non-Latching or No Latch Female XLR Connector
My Mackie Onyx 32.4 has no-latch XLR chassis receptacles too(28 females). Some Neutrik chassis receptacles have a spring retainer, instead of a latch. ie: (http://www.neutrik.com/en/xlr/a-series/nc3fah-0) If you can see the locking window(slot) in...
has anyone else tried Lloyd Walkers latest tweak
It matters not how great the piece of equipment. There will always be room for improvement, until SOMETHING exactly replicates the original performance, in every regard(timbre/dynamics/sound stage/imaging/etc), or(at least) the original tape/digit...
Non-Latching or No Latch Female XLR Connector
You simply pull the cable end out of the connector. If the chassis XLR has no latch, the friction of the plug holds it in place(just like an RCA).
Distortion at Peak Dynamic Levels
The Shure ERA IV disc does not use artificial test tones. It has a variety of instruments, that cover various segments of music's bandwidth, recorded at incrementally increasing levels. It's a useful disc, if one is interested in testing one's tra...
Have you tried SILCLEAR from Mapleshade?
Quicksilver is supposed to dry out, and leave the deposit of silver behind. The container can be taped(airtight) and placed in a vacuum sealed bag, which prevents it's drying out in storage.
Distortion at Peak Dynamic Levels
Get a phono set-up test record, and check your cartidge's tracking. You may simply have the tracking force too light. Are you using a GOOD/accurate digital sylus force gauge? The Shure test records run you though a series of test levels, in variou...
What happened to Discwasher?
LAST has NOT gone under. Still very much alive(has expanded it's product line), and efficacious as ever(following a good VPI 16.5 cleaning). I've got three Discwasher systems, from the 80's, that I still use before every play. Disc Doctor's Quick ...
Waaaah. Snapped off my cantilever.
Like I said, "depending on the length of the cantilever, compliance AND OTHER MECHANICAL CONSIDERATIONS. However: Being a tuned SYSTEM; every cartridge is unique and(like every recording's mix) SUBJECT to the TUNER'S BIASES." BUT- Thanx for pontif...
Power supply caps
BTW: I've dealt with Michael Percy quite a bit, over the years. Sometimes he's hard to get hold of, but worth the effort. Happy listening
Waaaah. Snapped off my cantilever.
Mr D- My question was whether you had heard the XX with a ruby cantilever. I have and thought it more organic(natural/alive, while retaining air/ambiance), which to me is an improvement, as I actually listen to more live music, than canned. I prob...
Waaaah. Snapped off my cantilever.
"If you send it to a universal re-tipper, you will receive a different cartridge with a different quality performance level that almost always is only different but not better one." Again: On what is this opinion based? Both Van Den Hul and Sounds...
Waaaah. Snapped off my cantilever.
Mr D- "the Dynavector has a boron cantilever. The Soundsmith ruby cantilever is not an upgrade at all as boron is a far better material to use," Have you heard one, with a ruby cantilever? If not: On what is your opinion based? Thank you for your ...
Waaaah. Snapped off my cantilever.
Mr P- One sonic benefit of a(top shelf) repair through Soundsmith involves a much upgraded cantilever(ruby), if available for your cartridge. Their Nude Contact Line sylus profile also is an upgrade over many that OEM manufacturers provide.(http:/...
