Speaker Cable for SET amplfiier - 1000$
I had an Audio Note 300b and Lowther Horn set up for a while. It sounded the best when I rewired and ran my horns with DNM Precision Speaker wire. Very inexpensive as compaired to other brands. Depending on length needed you should easily get by f...
Speaker cable advice
Look into DNM Stereo Speaker cables. They are solid core copper, will fit into your budget, and bested everything that I have had in my system over the last 15 years. Good-luck
Are the Crimson cables as good as they say
I did the Crimson home demo and found that I only liked the speaker cable in my system. I replaced the speaker cable about 10 months ago with DNM and like those better. If possible do the in home demo and make your choice with your own ears in you...
Horning owners what amps have you used?
Dpe,Audio Note Kits has a 20w Push Pull 300b Interstage Mono Amp as well. All of the products on the AN Kits site were built by Pete Fulton. If you don't have the time for your own build, give him a shout he can be found here http://www.digitalpet...
Horning owners what amps have you used?
I'm not sure of your budget, but I have heard the Audio Note Kits 300b Interstage Mono Blocks SET version with many upgrades. I'm lucky to have a friend who has a pair of these on Carfrae Little Big Horns (6moons road tour exit 1). Absolute best s...
Speaker Stand Design?
Here is a design that I will be making when I have my new listening chair. Your design philosophy is spot on, thicker wood and more weight = less vibration. Herbies Fat Dots under your monitors would also be a good idea.Do a "DIY Speaker Stand" se...
I need advice on a good value for speakers
Look into used Snell, Type D and the C series III,IV,and V are all very good and should fit well in your budget range ($500-$1000). I had a pair of the C-V's in my room (15x21x8) for a couple of years and sold them to a friend so I could try horns...
Integrated Amplifiers with neutral sound
I'm using an ATC SIA2-150 ($4000.00) with a pair of Shelby+Kroll monitors and love the way it sounds. Very clean, neutral, natural, and dynamic. I prefered the ATC over a Pass XA-30.5 and XP-10 preamp combo.Good-luck
Used full-range speakers less than $1,500
Used vintage Snell is always a good choice. Type A (1-111), Type B, C (1-5). In the C group the C-IV And C-V are the best choices IMHO. The type D is a slightly smaller version of the C-V and sound good also.Good Luck
Does your amp/preamp/int amp have to look good?
Beauty is in the ear of the beholder!FWIW I'm a budget aupiophool. My listening room is away from the rest of the house in the basement. Usually an "ugly" piece of gear can be got at a good price, but it MUST sound good. I could care less about th...
Two subs or not Two subs?
I agree with Zman.If you buy 1 sub first, get some long el'cheepo (Rat Shack) sub cables and move it all around the room. You may be surprised at where it sounds the best.Good luck
Jumper Question
Check the fuse next to the binding posts. They are there to protect the tweeters. If they are blown you won't get any sound.Good-luck
What started you on your audiophile journey .
Back in the mid 70's my older brother purchased an all in one unit (Tuner, amp, turntable, and 8-track)from Sears. We would listen to music and mess around with ways to help it sound better for hours. Then in 1982 a friend asked me to come over and l...
