HELP Rega P-7; VPI Classic 2; Scout 2 or ?
I had the Clearaudio Performance SE with the ceramic magnetic bearing and Satisfy Carbon arm. At the time I had the Clearaudio Talismann V2 cart. A great little kit for $5k. Clearaudio tables are very dynamic and transparent with great bass slam. ...
Amps for Maxx 2's
Pass Labs XA-100.5 Pure Class A monoblocks. 200 watt's into a 4 ohm load. They drive my Watt/Puppy 8's as loud as I would want w/o breaking a sweat. Solid class A sound with a firm grip on the bass unlike tube power amps.
How important is the tonearm?
02-05-11: Mj908it's all gimmick. For below $500 each, you can find a table, a tonearm and a cart and enjoy music, spending more than that is just for your egoLOL, you must be speaking of your system. News flash: All systems are not alike. I...

Tubes Through Solid State
I liked tubes for the pre-amp, especially with edgy 16 Bit digital. I find no use for them with analog. I replaced my old Cary SLP-94 tubed with NOS Telefunken's with a vintage Mark Levninson 380S Solid State pre. It kills the tube pre-amp I had, ...
Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive?
Dailey driver: 2010 Porsche cayenne GTS. Bose surround, universal disk player.Fun Car:2004 Porsche 911 GT3. System is stock standard and can hardly hear it in the car. The music is the car's exhaust note.
Speakers to hang on to for LIFE
Had a pair of Aerial Acoustic 10T's since 1995. Just sold them a few months ago and picked up a pair of lightly used Wilson Audio Watt/Puppy System 8 speakers. I expect them to last just as long in my system, if not longer.
Attn Vinyl lovers - what CD Player do you use?
I use the PS Audio Perfect Wav system (trans & dac) for my digital playback.
What CDP gets really close to vinyl?
The best digital front end for $6k I have heard is the PS Audio Perfect wav system. You can burn hi-resolution wav files up to 24/192 and play them back natively via the PW transport on DVD or via the music server option in the DAC alone (The Brid...
