Weiss DAC2 or W4S or PWD or Zodiac + or . . . I own the PS Audio PW DAC and Trans. I do not run a network set (aka Bridge option for the DAC). IT's a great, very natural sounding DAC with little in the way of harsh digital artifacts. It will handle all bit depth's, sampling frequencies. I hav...
Who is the KING of MONOS? I should also note that there is no such thing as a Pass XA600.5(As the OP listed). There is an X600.5 which is class AB. The highest wattage output for Pass Labs Class A monoblocks is the XA-200.5, which is 200 wpc into 8 ohms and 400 wpc into 4 ...
Who is the KING of MONOS? First off, you can eliminate all the amps in the list that are not Pure Class A power. Does that leave Pass as the only choice in your list ? I have the XA 100.5's. Best SS amps I have ever heard.
Digital guy, thinking of taking the analog plunge. What's your budget ? Perhaps a Rega table/arm combo for around $1,000 will meet your needs financially (excluding phono-pre & cart) ? If your holding back on the budget because you are unsure you will like analog compared to digital (Like I di...
higher end jazz vinyl: where to turn? I agree with Topoxforddoc. If your old vinyl isn't scratched and just snapping and crackling, a proper record cleaning will solve that issue for you. If a semi auto RCM is out of the question $$$ wise, get a manual Spin Clean kit for $75.00. Using...
Where will my powercables be used best ? I'm not so sure putting the best power cord on a power regenerator makes sense. The regenerator I have...PSA Power Plant Premier takes in the dirty AC, drops the voltage down to a minimal amount, massages it and then re-amplifies the AC to 120/60....
Record-playing Rituals? Here's my RC procedure (Just received the OKKI NOKKI). I had hoped that I would do everything on the RCM, but I haven't. Here's my typical cleaning procedure: 1) Lay out some clean Micro-fibre towels for the record to lie on. 2) Scrub the record s...
Experience w/ Trans-Fi Auio Terminator Tone Arm? If your looking at Linear track tonearms, you should also consider clearaudio in your evaluation, imo....
PS Audio Power Plant Premier Power Cables I have the PPP. I use the PS Audio mid-range AC-5 cable. I needed quite a long length..which made the higher end AC-10 and AC-12's out of the question. IMO, going with a better cable than that is a waste of $$$.Reason: The power is regenerated fro...
Reference DACS: An overall perspective For $6K the PS Audio Perfect Wav trans and dac are hard to beat. The transport is a buffered memory player (play DVD's with up 24/192 wav files) with a digital lense reclock of the singal handed off to the DAC via HDMI. The DAC handles all samplin...
Best phono stage balanced under $3000 used 03-31-11: ManituncThen why dont they have balanced ouputs from the tonearm instead of the rca phono jacks I always seeThey do. With my Clearaudio Universal arm, Balance XLR's can be an option. I have RCA though as I don't see the sonic advantage g...
Pass X vs XA amps sound quality in class A range However, my speakers are 86dB with a 4ohm load and I just played the Chesky Drum Track LP at 95dB and my needles were moving all over the place, not pegged, but they moved about 3/4" every time the kick drum was struck. My speaker sensitivity is 9...
Pass X vs XA amps sound quality in class A range I love my XA 100.5's. Replaced a long in the tooth Mark Levinson 27.5. They also warm up quick, say within 1/2 hour for good sound. I push Wilson W/P 8's with them. never once have they left class A bias. Great sounding SS power amps.
Are there any albums you consider perfect? Supertramp - Crime of the Century...absolutely perfect, imo
Shelter Harmony cart... a touch bright ? The cart has settled in, been adjusted and re-adjusted to the Nth degree and is now wonderfully balanced and musical. Silly me to think the cart was a touch bright. It just needed some break in....and extremely fine alignment. I'm a Happy camper n... |
