Why the fascination with subwoofers? Some peoples speakers may require augmentation of the lower frequencies e.g. bookshelf/monitor speakersThey can be more affordable than upgrading to a speaker that has comparable bass perofrmance .My case precisely. I like very few speakers but fe...
Looking for a little help for speakers I may purchase YW pcc67. Yes, I prefer tubes on them, or most any speaker for that matter. I am running a pair of Audio Mirror 45 Watt SET monoblocs - plenty of power for the Fontaines. Don't know if they'd be enough for the Andras though. I recall reading in th...
Full range vs monitors with sub A good sub (or four) allows acoustic tuning of the bass without having to move the mains around to achieve this. Get the main speakers right, mess with the subs until everything blends...done.+1

Eggleston Works speakers: Expensive, but are they worth the money?? I have a pair of their Fontaines, original version, and they are excellent. Sub(s) required for this model for music other than acoustic IMO, so I augment the low end with a pair of ACI Titan subs (powered, 12" driver, sealed). Exquisite sound, wi...
Highest BUILD quality tube amps? My Audio Mirror 45 Watt SETs have been working flawlessly for years. And with auto-bias, the power tubes last a very long time. Glorious sound to boot.
2 channel setup IMO, I would not even consider thinking too much about cabling yet. Just get decent copper cables all throughout to start with. The most important thing to consider at your stage is deciding which speakers you like, then getting a proper/capable a...

New system has fatiguing, harsh high frequency sounds. How to fix? @kosst - Not sure who voted you king and supreme intellect. I am sharing my opinion based on experience. If you disagree with my opinion you can simply disagree (as in your sentences which follow your first). No need to make disparaging comments a...
New system has fatiguing, harsh high frequency sounds. How to fix? For 2-channel listening I'd recommend a tube amp, room treatments, and possibly speaker toe-in/out adjustments. Borrowing a partial quote posted by a very knowledgeable man from another thread touting an advantage of employing a tube amplifier ....
For tube sound, which is more important: preamp or power amp? My experience has me agreeing with nickolaspappas. |
