Disappointed w/ Klipsch Heresy III. Now what?
Put that 9 foot couch at the other end of your room! Keep the space between the speakers as clear as possible! A wide, medium-height equipment rack against the wall would be acceptable. You can put your components on it and run shorter lengths of ...
dynamic classical which isn't boring?
Edgar Varese's Ionization! A favorite of Frank Zappa!
Amp for Shahinian Obelisks?
I heard the Obelisk's back in 1977 demoed by Richard Shahinian personally. This was at that Fall's NYC Audio Show. Signal source was a TT (don't remember the make) with a MC cartridge. Amplification was a pre/power combination by PSE (Professional...
What did Shahinian Obelisks cost in the late 1980s
I heard the Obelisk's back in 1977 at the NY Audio Show. Richard Shahinian personally demoed them using a PSE amp and preamp. Signal source was a TT (can't remember the make) with a MC cartridge. The hotel room was small, but the sound of the clas...
Best bargain find ever ?
A pair of Ohm Walsh Sound Cylinders for $37.50 + sales tax = $39.75 at my local GW! Excellent condition, superb sound! How could I not buy them?!!!
Bargain audio shopping in a time machine...
1980 (or thereabouts). Old Greenwich,CT.  My friend Doug K. offers to sell me his pair of Futterman H3AA's (no's 54 and 55). $650. I went to his house where we listened to them on Quad 57's and KLH Nines. Absolutely superb sound! But I passed on h...
Bargain audio shopping in a time machine...
Late Seventies. Audiocom in Old Greenwich, CT. I could have bought a pair of Marantz Model 9 tube amps for $900! Look what they sell for these days - $4000+ !!! Great amps!
Bargain audio shopping in a time machine...
I would go back to July 1991 and Hi Fi Classics in Far Rockaway, Ny. They had two pairs of original owner KLH Nines for sale. $500 a pair. Alas, I only bought one pair! A decision I still regret! However, I have held onto that single pair of Nines...
Best bargain find ever ?
A pair of original KLH Nines for $500 in 1991! I still have them in use! Later, another great find was a pair of Klipsch Heresy's at my local GW - $25 in excellent condition!
Best bargain you've ever missed out
Back in July, 1991 Hi Fi Classics in Far Rockaway, NY had two pairs of original owner KLH Nines for sale. $500 a pair! Alas, I went there and only bought one pair! I still have that pair in use - but passing on the second pair for such a low price...
Sadly missed manufacturers
Julius Futterman. The designer/builder of the Harvard Music, H3 and H3AA OTL tube amps. The "Holy Grail" of tube amps! Superb sound used with Quad 57's and KLH Nines!
Sadly missed manufacturers
The true "Holy Grail" of tube amplifiers: Julius Futterman's Harvard Music, H3 and H3AA OTL amps! A great match and superb sound when used with Quad 57's and KLH Nines. I speak from experience, having owned this setup for years!
Seeking floorstander for low watt SET
I also have on hand a pair of Altec Stonehenge 1's. These sound particularly fine on Rock and don't need much power to come alive!
