Why is the high end stratospheric?
Fleecing the Rich has long been prevalent in Capitalist society. Bring on the Bling!
Replaced CDP w/ Transport; Now, Soundstage Changes Dramatically w/each CD. Why?
Imagination is indeed a powerful force! Especially coupled with PEB (Positive Expectation Bias).
NAD 3020
Lest we forget, The Audio Critic gave it top billing on the front cover: "Sounds better than many $2000 separates". After reading that, I just had to have one! In fact, I bought two! They sounded as good as Peter Aczel claimed!

Great sounding cheap amps (made in Taiwan)! And if you like the NAD's, don't over look the Proton gear (same designers, same Taiwanese factory)!

I had two of them back in ’78 - ’79. Cost $219 each. Used them as mono amps (one channel per speaker) with a pair of Time Windows. Sold them (and the TW’s) when I bought Quads and a Bedini 25/25 (and a little later, a Futterman OTL). But the two 3...
Increasing gain for your vinyl front end when pre-amp doesn't quite have enough juice
Sell those Vandys and get a pair of Klipsch Heresy's! For ROCK they get the job done!
What equipment have you bought this year so far ?
Nada! Just more LPs and CDs! Where will I put them all?
The Science of Cables
@douglas_schroeder : I will try this as soon as I get another two y connectors (already have two). IC's will be AQ Silver Extremes. First test will be between CD player and preamp.
Turntable Mat question
Here's what I like and use: Hiraoka Diskmat SE-22. MIJ. Bought it in 1977 at Harvey Sound (48th St. NYC). Cost: $20! I regret not buying several! Well, only had one TT then! It does what the mfg claims: provide the most neutral playback of LPs for...
Clayton Audio Class A
Take two stereo amps, bridge each and you have what the Adcom GFA-1 did with one chassis.
The Science of Cables
@douglas_schroeder : so an IC made of many strands of litz wire should have the best sound quality? According to your "theory" doubling the connecting wire will improve SQ. Conversely, halving the number of connecting wires will reduce SQ. And the...
Clayton Audio Class A
I doubt that the Accuphase amps are of the dual-bridged design. This particular design does have a problem with low impedances. Too much current draw - too much heat from the output stages! That's why Adcom abandoned it after the GFA-1 and went ba...
My system sounds better than ever.......Yet, I STILL bought another preamp!!
It is always good to have a spare - or two!
Difference Between DAC Types
As the French chef says: NO Diffawrance!
Clayton Audio Class A
My vintage Adcom GFA-1 uses that design (two bridged amps per channel). 200wpc and a cooling fan at the back because of current draw making it run hot!
