What is the benefit of a second amplifier .
The system you have currently is plenty good enough unless those B&Ws are in a very large room. I would simply connect the B&K amp to a nice 7.1 processor and be done. Emotiva makes a well-regarded units, the UMC-200, and is due to release...
Home theater with hard drive music - Totally lost.
Sounds like he needs a good AV receiver and something like the Oppo 93/95 or 103/105. The Oppos will allow you to connect USB devices, have network/internet streaming, AND they can playback every shiny disc format. A good, used BDP-93 can be had f...
Out of this speaker rockort, Atlair
Alex, I'd like to buy a shift key and a "period" key.Okay, just a little light fun at the OP's expense. Of all the speakers mentioned, I would go with the MBLs - astonishing resolution, incredible dispersion, and very good dynamic range with a pow...
Kef Blade or Wilson Audio Alexia?
So, you're considering a sound system for your bathroom? Did you mean to write 280 sq. ft. (28x10)??The KEFs I have heard are among the best imaging speakers. The placement and location of instuments and voices within the soundfield is extraordina...
Does vinyl have a sound?
And vinyl does not have nearly the dynamic range and frequency response of even the cheapest digital playback devices - not even close. Digital has a much quieter background and can reproduce the transients much more fully than can vinyl.-RW-
how much of a difference should equipment make?
>> Let me just get this out of the way and say it up front.. While the speakers (and their placement in my room) seemed to make a huge difference, the amp, preamp, and cables do not seem to make any discernable difference to me or my wife. &...
$165k - $200k speaker performance for $40k ?
If you like line arrays, the Gallo 5LSs might be a good way to go. Couple these with some Velodyne DD+ 18" subs (with built in room-correction DSP capability) and I think you'd be 95% of the way to the "statement" speakers...-RW-

Is there really a need for panel speakers in 2012
Yep, Taters izzzz Sudz and vicey-versa. I just wish he'd stop asking his endless "in-depth", "probing", and meaningless questions. Givc it a break, luv...-RW-
all i want in a processor... does it exist?
You want an Emotiva UMC-200 - room correction capability, no useless "legacy" inputs (s-video, component, etc.) and passhtorugh capability. And guess what, bunky? It's *very* reasonably priced at only $599 (FREE shipping!), 30-day in-home trial, a...

Big Step Up from Totem Hawks? 10k Speakers?

What speakers match my system? $3,000 Budget
Tektons (Pendragons) and Gallo Classicos (CL-3, CL-4) will rock your world. The Tektons are *very* efficient, no need for any more than 75-100 watts/ch. amp. The Classicos would like to see a hi-current amp of 100 - 200 watts/ch...-RW-
