Yep - welcome to the wonderful world of DSP controlled processors. Your problem illustrates why I really like preamps/processors that have a Max Volume setting. This also helps to keep the babysitter's boyfriend from frying your speakers...-RW-

And also because they are swapped in and out of systems more frequently. Most folks will keep their speakers for 5 years or more. It is much easier to buy and install amps/preamps than it is speakers...-RW-
