2 channel Poll: Vote: Do you use Tubes or SS? I had a tube pre and a SS power amp, thinking I was getting "the best of both"One day I brought home a tube powe amp on demo, just to prove to myself that I did not need a tube power amp. The SS power amp was put up for sale the next day.As an EE,...
VT-100 MKII sonics but need more power It sort of gets hard to build a stereo tube amp at around 200 wpc because it just gets too large. You need a large, heavy power supply and output tgransformers, so at above 100 wpc you will start seeing more monoblock designs.
Has anyone compared Audio Research LS25II to Ref2 I upgraded my LS25MK2 to a REF2MK2 2 months ago. I bought them both here on A'gon, and the upgrade difference in dollars ended up being about 2500.I feel this is worth it, the REF2 is has much more "muscle". The low bass is much better, while reta...
difference between 6922 and the 6h30 super tube Pins are the same, but I understand the heater currents are different. Apparently, you can not substitute one for the other.
WAF, Help, Need Strategy Re-read jabenso's post. A home is a reflection of those who live in it. I am among the lucky, my wife wants me to be happy, in all things. We do not "negotiate," how can one "negotiate" with half of ones self? The opposite applies: I want her to b...
Review: Cable shootout Nordost, Purist, Synergistic, MIT Speaker cable Very nice review, thank you. My system is very similar to yours. I just went through an interesting experiment, having been somewhat of a cable "naysayer." (I guess the electrical engineer in me still comes out once in a while) I recently went to ...
Sweet Spot? My Martin Logans have a pretty small spot, but, oh, what a spot that is;)
To leave on or not to leave on, that is the ? My tubed pre- amp and amps are turned off. I notice that the sound isn't right for about 40 to 60 minutes with improvements over the first three hours. My CD player has a class A solid state output stage, and the owners manual clearly states that ...
2 Channel System - Image behind my head I only get it on this recording. I have also heard it somewhat on Dark side of the moon. My system is very simple, If it is out of phase, than it must be internal. Most recordings on my system have pinpoint imaging, so I tend to think it is record...
2 Channel System - Image behind my head I figured it had to do with the phase, but how could that work? It is only in one channel? Out of absolute phase only? Or is there some of the image in the left channel? My speakers usually image a couple of feet outside their position, but this i...
Classical fans, I need advice This could be one of the great threads. I have been listening to classical music since I stumbled on WQXR at 14 years old. I guess thats a quarter century now, and I still feel as if there are so many more peices to hear....However, if I had to ch...
Which Amp for ML Ascent i? I have the Ascents, and originally ran the classe CA 301. The 301 had absolute control and authority over these speakers, but was a little on the harsh side for vocals.I brought home an ARC VT100MKIII on audition and it never left. The only time I...
Audio Research pre amp question Hi,I have a VT 100MKIII and just changed from an LS16 MKII to an LS 25 MKII. The 25 provides MUCH more detail.By the way, with these components, you should consider balanced operation as mandatory: I have seen the schematics, and if you run them S...
Advice wanted on mid range setup Doug,Thank you. I primarily find myself listening to classical and Jazz, almost exclusively accustical Jazz. I don't seem to get as much pleasure out of electric instruments, I suppose that I have no reference in my mind as to how they should soun... |
