The 411 on AT&T
I have used the Optimism v1 which is a definite step up from the supplied Wadia. Currently using 2 Optimism v2 between a Wadia 27 and 270SE. These are superb, especially on the clock link. For the data link it may be a bit too much of a good thing...
Reviews with all double blind testing?
I mentioned this in another thread not too long ago. In blind taste testing Pepsi usually wins. When the brands are known Coke almost always wins. I think this means that Coke comes with a plethora of baggage (at least more than Pepsi) that affect...
Reviews with all double blind testing?
I have nothing against double blind testing. The only thing I question is the listening time period. Initial impressions may change over a longer period of time. Two weeks would probably be more appropriate than a couple of hours. My bet is that l...
Cable confusion
What ever you buy, try to get a money back guarantee. Many sellers and manufacturers offer at least a 30 day money back program. That way if you don't like them you're not stuck. Remember though to let them break in for a couple of weeks before yo...
What do you listen to when no one else can hear it
I ocassionaly listen to the Beach Boys and throw in some surf guitar stuff. My wife hates this stuff so I have to play it when shes not around.:~)
Recent reviews on Cyberlight IC's
There was a recent thread on this subject that IMO got pretty nasty. The conclusions seemed to be that these cables are very system dependent and of course the cable that was replaced is a factor. In my opinion the concept behind this cable is at ...
Best digital cable to audition?
Readster, I'm no expert on this subject but there are no ones or zeros. That's just a concept. In reality there are electrical or light signals. Those electrical and light signals can be affected by any number of things. Even some fiber optics sou...
What exactly is meant by
Remastering in and of itself does not necessarily mean improved sound quality. Recent examples are the Loreena McKinnet remasters. To me they lost some of their textural richness and gained IMO some artificial detail in the upper range. I realize ...
Eagles Concert Guitar Player
I realy enjoyed "Hell Freezes Over" and thought Don Felder did an excellent job. If I remember correctly, he played one number on classical guitar that sounded awesome. Started to watch this latest program but got bored.
Need Help with Cable/Interconnect Recommendations
You bought a $100,000 dollar car don't put 4 for $100 tires on it.
What's your favorite Audiophile label, and why?
I've never thought that Deutsche Gramophon CDs sounded very good. Some of the repertory is irreplacable though. I like the Dutton, Hyperion and Chandos labels. A high percentage of titles on these labels sound very good.
Glass Fiber AT&T ST or AES/EBU XLR ?
Mejames,Just received an e-mail from Keith at Wadia. The clocklink works with any cable. Of course the clocklink must be connected by the AT&T glass cable and transport and DAC have to be configured for clocklink. As long as this is connected ...
Best digital cable to audition?
Muralman1,There are 2 Audio Note companies, 1 Japanese and 1 English. Could you describe the Audio Note cable you were using? English or Japanese, model number and terminations? Thanks!
Jena Labs Model One Fundamental Power Cords
I have always found Jena Labs net site to be confusing and poorly done. I don't believe the Model One Fundamental power cord is even mentioned. Can I ask where you got your information on this cord and where they were purchased? Thanks!
Glass Fiber AT&T ST or AES/EBU XLR ?
Mejames,Are you saying the Wadia will lose clocklink with XLR? I was under the impression that clocklink will work with other connections. Am I wrong here? Of course I will leave the AT&T between the units for the clock signal. Maybe I need to...
