Cardas or Virtual Dynamics power cords? Opinions?
I find the Genesis intriguing but it is out of reach for many (most?) of us. They do have a rather stiff price of admission you have to admit. But if you can handle it what the hell. They probably sound fantastic!
DAC Balanced Cable Upgrade Question
I would wait until the Gabriel Gold balanced ICs go up on Audiogon auction. There is a notice that this will be happening soon. You can probabably get them for a reasonable price and in my experience they are excellent. I think you would be happy ...
Cardas or Virtual Dynamics power cords? Opinions?
John and Ed,When I put new balanced Revelations in my system it took a good 3-4 months for them to bloom. Speaker cables of course should be quicker but be patient you will be rewarded. Oh I almost forgot, no such thing as break-in, it's all a myt...
haunting/dark classical
A little off the beaten path and more recent than those already mentioned; Silvestrov(sp?) from the Ukraine. Dark and brooding but not as "thick" as above mentioned romantics. I believe there are at least 3-4 CDs available.

To cryo or not to cryo
Redkiwi,When I mentioned "cancelling out" I was only refering to this thread not to any broader context. As for cryoing, I believe that it can indeed impart beneficial qualities in some materials for certain purposes. There are many variables in t...
do blind tests have any practical significance
How about an alternative to the blind test; the nearly blind or poorly sighted test where all participants are required to have poor eye sight and must turn their glasses or contacts in before listening. This would be a politically correct comprom...
Morph The Cat-Bass Notes
One thing I've learned Audphile, when I purchase a remaster I never get rid of the original until I've listened to the remaster a few times. I got burned too many times when the remaster sounded worse than the original. And, I believe this happens...
Will Japanese power distributor work in US?
I don't know the answer to your question, sorry. Be aware though, the shipping can be pretty stiff and you may have to pay US import duty. On the other hand, I buy a lot of stuff from Japan with no problem. But while you're searching around check t...
What current China import sounds like a CJ??
My personal feeling is: if you want the sound of a CJ, buy a CJ. Pretty simple. Although quite a few posts ran a little off topic, I can appreciate the views expressed. I agree that our trade relationship is unbalanced in favor of China. Witness o...
Best Neil Young Album?
Some of his songs with Buffalo Springfield were excellent as well as with CSNY. After many, many years I've recently purchased The Best of Buffalo Springfield CD. I'm surprised at how good some of the songs are.One of his albums that I really enjo...
Joni Mitchell Blue - Wow help me Agoners
Just received the latest Japanese reissues CDs (late 2006) of Ladies of the Canyon, Court and Spark and Blue. Ladies and Court sound excellent while Blue seems to be a bit on the brittle side. This may be because of the dulcimers sound plus the sp...
