High Fidelity Cable replaces NPS 1260
Code name is, "the new kid on the block", huh? I received a tiny sample in the mail this last week, and as I had already entirely pulled my system apart, found an opportunity to try it. I had built some wooden frames for my QRD17 diffusers, and s...

Does carpet deaden the sound too much?
I favour a broad-band absorber on the ceiling preferable to carpet as a means of dealing with floor to ceiling absorption. Great, this is the area in which I need more information in order to make an informed decision. I know that my next move ...
Speaker positioning: why do audiophiles neglect this so much?
Another blowhard. Who are you referring to?
Speaker positioning: why do audiophiles neglect this so much?
There will be little if any sibilance behind female voices and imaging will be pinpoint and holographic Unless there’s reverb or echo either in the recording or mix, then it’s not so defined. So often I hear instruments well defined spatially, ...
Having trouble with sound deadening
Auralex subwoofer platform as suggested, or spring isolation are possible solutions to decouple mechanically the sub. Personally I use springs. (common knowledge to many in Agon now)
Anyone else here interested in, or built, or even heard Folded Well Diffusers??
@brunomarcs - I haven’t actually heard the carbon technology of Acoustic Fields at all. When Dennis spoke of how he come to discover the technology by accident, it reminded me of what was told to me when I visited the Genolan Caves. It wasn...
Does carpet deaden the sound too much?
@g_nakamoto We were lent a pair of McIntosh MC501 with the matching pre for at least 12 months some years ago, while the development of a customer's pair of speakers was undertaken. They sure had some drive, so yeah I'm thinking you're not going t...
Does carpet deaden the sound too much?
Also, completely differently, try disconnecting all cabling & cleaning the cable ends & whatever socket or connecter they go into & replacing them. +1 a 100%   @g_nakamoto - did you read what fatdaddy2 wrote? If you want to expe...
Does carpet deaden the sound too much?
@retiredfarmer - Hi Tom Many of us now decouple using springs, others have had success with other technologies. There are entire threads on isolation with some really positive responses. @hiendmmoe - can you share with us some information about y...
Does carpet deaden the sound too much?
Does the carpet affect the overall sound (matter)? I expect it does affect the overall sound, as others have shared. In a positive or negative manner, well that's for you to determine.
Does carpet deaden the sound too much?
@holmz - he's asking if too much absorption is a possible reason for the system not sounding lively. I say, very unlikely that this singularly would be the culprit.
Wire gauge.
If you’re already inside it, and evidently not fearful of wielding a soldering iron, you could fully experiment with different gauges, materials and geometry. You could drop gauge size for tweeters for example and a bit of trial and see what you ...
Does carpet deaden the sound too much?
The proximity of the speakers to the floor means it is the very closest first reflection point, unless you have speakers sitting right besides walls (even if you have to downsize the listening triangle, bring speakers off the side walls if you can...
Amir and Blind Testing
When making purchases in this hobby/sport, at some stage we have to bite the bullet and trust our senses. There are products and technologies that exist that effectively re-create the music we love with more finesse, more sense of realism and trig...
