Wadia 121
can anyone compare it to the PSAudio DLIII?also, didn't Wadia have a lot of customer service and reliability issues recently?
What new CD/SACD player?
Nice budget. Lots of choices. My recommendation would be to get a nice player in the $1000-$2500 range and spend the remainder on a great DAC, if you don't already have one. You don't mention if you need multichannel, but judging by your equipment...
How many still listen to CD's daily.

Phono Pre Amp Recommendation
Sound has definitely improved. At the time of my original post, I only had 5 hours listening time on the cartridge. Now after about 15 hours it is much more lively, if still a bit dry. This is my first experience with an mc cart. My previous two t...
Phono Pre Amp Recommendation
Maybe it is a break in thing. It is starting to improve the more that I listen to it, although it is still on the dry side, soundstage has definitely opened up. I'll give it more time and report back. Thank you to everybody.
D links and i links are they compatible?
it was discontinued years ago. Most HT and audio people have never heard of it.
D links and i links are they compatible?
Thanks for your answer, Kg. I am using a Pioneer receiver now that doesn't have an HDMI. When I bought it I didn't realize that it lacked HDMI. i have not seen any Pioneer HDMI/ilink receiver available. It's possible that they are on offer, but it...
Multi-Format players of yesteryear, vs. Now
I have a descendent of the same player (Pioner Elite ). Don't be so sure that the Oppo will trounce it, as they sound different. Oppo's tend to sound a bit lean. Oppos do offer balanced 2 channel output, if that is important to you. I would defini...
Furtwangler's 9th on Arkipel.
Comparing a performance from 70 years ago to a new recording with the latest technologies is nonsense. My point when I started the thread was that this particular remastering makes the performance more immediate and compelling than we are used to ...
DAC = thin sound
I have 2 DL3s. I don't agree with your assessment at all. The bass is detailed, nuanced, but not bloaty. There is tremendous detail and realism without being excessively clinical. My only regret is that I had to pay a higher price than what they c...
Nad t187 v. Onkyo integra 5508/80.803
I would definitely look at Denon, Marantz and Pioneer Elite in the $ 1k range before concluding that Onkyo owns this segment of the market. I bought a used Elite that doesn't have HDMI from an AGoner recently because I valued it's "i-link". It sou...
Nad t187 v. Onkyo integra 5508/80.803
How would i characterize Onkyo's sound? I find myself describing what isn't. It isn't in your face and super analytical. Nor is it soft and veiled. The treble may roll off a tad. The bass is tuneful and detailed, but this can be very room dependen...
Nad t187 v. Onkyo integra 5508/80.803
I've owned both Integra and Onkyo AVRs for the past decade, in the 1K price range for both. They have great feature sets reliability and videoProcessing. From a purely audio perspective I've been happy until I hear something in the same range that...

How about chucking the whole rig for an ipod and some of them HiFi buds Apple supplies gratis?
'they blew'em off the stage'
I was at a Chicago Symphony concert recently where the first piece, Samuel Barber's Adagio For Strings, completely upstaged the main event, Shostakovich's 5th Symphony.
