Emotiva XPA-5 vs. Parasound A51? I agree with Zen. I just added a used Parasound myself; I'm now using my Pioneer Elite receiver as a Processor. It's been a great upgrade. I've also been using the two channel version of the Parasound in my main system for 2 years. I've never hear...
OPPO Relieability?? My 105 does a lot of weird things. Sometimes there is no sound unless I hit and then release the mute button. Sometimes it decides it will recognize my MacBook USB, at other times it will stop, usually in the middle of playing. I haven't found the...
Has anyone bought the OPPO 105 and has an opinion I own both players. There really is no comparison. The Oppo sounds far better, plus it can play Blu Ray, DVD-A, and computer music. Sometimes the software in the Oppo causes glitches, and you won't have to worry about that with the Sony.
New HT Receiver I haven't bought a new receiver for a few years, but judging by the reviews that I read the feature count seems fairly standard. The bigger issue is sound as many have gone to Class D Amps. If you don't mind Class D, then you have more choices. I ...
Has the Oppo carried the AV industry? AVgo--Why are you ranting so much? If you don't like Oppo, don't buy their products. There is no conspiracy at work to have Oppo dominate the world.
In Walls Some good advice here. I will check B&w as a starting point, since my dealer carries them. I listened to Joseph Audio in walls many years agoAnd wasn't real impressed, but have they improved in the last few years?

Netgear NAS Incompatibility with Mac OS X 10.68 The NAS and computer are independently connected to the router. The Netgear diagram shows a line of stuff that is supposed to be displayed if everything is good to go. Mine only shows about half the stuff, although it seems to be assigning an IP a...
best DAC' choice between $1K-$2K? I just replaced my D-Link III with the Oppo bD 105 and am very happy (will soon be offering the D-Link and the Old Transport, an NAD DVD-A/SACD/DVD-V player, on A-Gon). now I can play Blu Rays, have Asynch USB, a headphone amp, and the sound beats...
Static electricity: Unique to Vinyl Systems? I'm a happy camper now because I plan to spend the next several months listening to as much vinyl as possible. I fail to see how I solved a static problem with a new preamp.
Static electricity: Unique to Vinyl Systems? Problem solved. The Musical Surroundings Nova completely almost eliminates the sound. If I stick my ears against the woofers, I can detect it, barely, but not while listening to the same records that were plagued before.I think I liked the basic so...
Static electricity: Unique to Vinyl Systems? Al, the previous mm cartridge was used with a different phono stage, not with the Jolida. It was used with PS Audio phono, which doesn't offer as many choices as the Jolida for cart settings, basically a mm and an mc setting. The PS Audio and the ...
Static electricity: Unique to Vinyl Systems? Al, I'm not certain if the prior phono stage didn't make the same sounds when it wasn't playing a record. It certainly did while playing a record, but it has a loud transformer hum (not present in the Jolida) that is really noticeable when no musi... |
