Any experience... Merlin+Wadia+Rowland dkuipers, if that's the case, why don't you search over on Audioasylum (or audioreview) for people's feedback on merlins? "fundamentally flawed?"--that's pretty funny; my guess is you probably like wilson Cubs or Hales (top dollar crayolas!). i've...
Any experience... Merlin+Wadia+Rowland i dont know why anyone would call the merlins bright or fatiguing. they're not. they're neutral. few other speakers are. what will happen is you will hear the intrinsic characteristic of your rowland amp (as well as your ICs &CDP). one of the ...
B&W Nautilus 803 & 804 Vs The World yes, if it can stay flat throughout the freq range, you've likely (but not necessarily) got a fine speaker on your hand. speakers shoudl not distort. anything other than a linear response is distortion.
B&W Nautilus 803 & 804 Vs The World there's a lot of better speakers for the money. value is low when its B&W. cheaper & better are maggies & vandys. much better for similar money are merlins. from 50hz to 20k, nothing sounds better than merlins IMHO. (look at some of th...
Which Solid State amp 2k used? Krell? martin logans are killer for acoustic or small ensemble jazz, NOT R&R. no dynamics, no bass, and limited volume. do yourself a favor, before buying a new amp, try some other speakers: good ones for R&R include paradigm 100s, vandersteen 2c...
Anyone heard or own the CTC Blowtorch? yes, i've heard it in bob crump's system (unknown transport feeding Crump modified Entec # cruncher DAC, blowtorch & CTC BBQ amp, rockport mains (unknown, but i think @ $15k), entec subs all connected using TG Audio ICs & Speaker cables). ...
1955-2001 Favorite Top Ten Rock Groups grateful dead, who, rolling stones, black sabbath, zeppelin, allman bros band, ac/dc, metallica (before they sold out), phish, U2 btw: the beatles are NOT r&r. R&R needs to jam, the beatles never jammed. they wrote great songs, but a R&...
Best Customer Service (Manufacturer) gotta 2nd the vote for bobby. he loves his speakers & totally supports his customers--i know, i'm a pain in the ass. he's helped me a lot with system matching, speaker placement. he's the best. rhyno
BEST HEAVY METAL BAND easy: Slayer. honorable mention to Black Sabbath and Metallica's work up to & including Justice. now they're just a bunch of top-40 hacks writing 3 minute made-for-radio songs based on one chord--listen to Orion, what a masterpiece with its co...
do tubes rock ?? agreed w/ plugged & sean. your speakers need lots of power, which would require something like the Wolcotts (tube) or the CTC BBQ. (btw: i've heard the BBQ, and i didn't know it was 'only' $5k. sounds much much better than that--krell's $5k st...
Tube Pre-amp beneficial? i just bought a joule LA 100 mk2 for $1200 used (quite a deal--and a lesson; you'll get lots more quality / sound for your dollar if you buy used--$1k will get you a NICE pre). this pre has made a huge difference in my musical enjoyment, as i have...
adding "slam" to 2-way speakers? hey carl_eber, what kind of sub do you use? i've heard great things re: REL & Vandy, but i'm trying to keep my options open. fwiw: i don't want a sub to simply 'fill in' info that my mains cannot produce--i want a sub to reproduce the same bas...
Advice on CD-R purchase go with a tascam CDR 700. manufacturer doesn't advertise but you can defeat the shareware so that SCMS is not active (i.e. digital to digital ad infinitum)--should set you back $500. american-digital.com oade.com (where i got mine) good luck ryan |
