Best Grateful Dead recording? audio quality aside, dix pix vol 4, the valentine's day show in 70 at the fillmore east. has the greatest dark star ever, complete w/ the feeling groovy jam midstream on disc 1. ---i dare say that one song is the very best performance they ever ha...
Why so many Merlin VSM's for sale?? in my case, it was an upgrade to a bigger speaker.to answer your question, after living w/ the VSM-Ms for 3 yrs, i can say without question that they deserve the class A rating...i've heard many much more expensive speakers that impress less.rhyno
Belles amp hum ... rf problem? just b/c the mounting of the transformer to the chassis is tight doesn't mean that its not the cause.leave the lid off, next time it hums, go put your fingertips only (carefully! do not touch another thing!) on top the transformer and feel if its ...
Belles amp hum ... rf problem? open the unit and check for loose mounting of the transformer. try an ungrounded PC. rhyno
Merlin VSM-M and Bass i successfully used a passive x-over provided by TG audio to roll the VSMs off at @ 100hz (first order if memory serves) and let the subs i was using (entec LF20s) run full range (natural roll off @ 100hz).when i had both TG audio and BFS revier M...
Mosfet vs. Bipolar revisited and the Belles 350A personally i've never liked bipolars, as they sound a little synthetic / etched (typical SS sound) and lack liquidity, though they do exhibit amazing control.mosfets ala the belles 350 completely bridge the gap in control w/ bipolars, though mosfe...
When is Belles going to get the credit he deserves first off, i agree, the bass w/ the 350 is quite startling in its drive, authority, pitch and impact. it can be considered reference in that regard (even the merlins made that obvious when compared to lesser amps. bigger speakers would make it mor...
When is Belles going to get the credit he deserves the 350 is a nice amp, but its not the best thing since sliced bread as marty states, nor is it cheap at its price. ---i lived with it for 8 mos hooked up to merlin VSM's, so i should know. there's lots of competent designers working out of their ...
Room Treatments added, with negative effects.. take away the treatments behind your seat---put in diffraction. absorption behind the seat usually kills presence.
Diagonal setup of system... no pics, sorry. DIY room treatments are w/o question the biggest bang for the $ in audio. as Nike says, just do it.rhyno
Diagonal setup of system... i haven't tried the two products you mentioned so i cannot say whether they'd be worthwhile or not. but the prices are attractive...quick cheap RPG diffusor recipe:hot glue gun2' by 4' by 1/8-1/4" perfboard (at home depot / lowes)2* 2'by4'by2" sty...
Diagonal setup of system... psychicanimal, you'll likely find (as i did) that the foam (aka absorption) @ listening position ear level will take life out of the performance. refract it with an RPG and you'll likely do better (or build your own, as they cost @ $40 in parts).b...
Diagonal setup of system... yes, you still need to tend to 1st and 2nd reflection points (bass panels ala jon risch worked fine), tube traps in the corners to absorb standing waves, and i've also found that diffusion works behind the listener---i made a home-made RPG diffuso...
Diagonal setup of system... in the decware setup they state that you won't need room treatments. in a larger room that may be true, but in a smaller room (mine's 11*12*8), treatements are still mandatory and a worthwhile addition.rhyno |
