Any hope for SACD? I guess my point was is that the entire High-End Audio manufacturing community just leaned on poor Sony to support SACD, and this was unfair. I think Sony deserved some support for this breakthrough technology, and some sort of manufacturing conso...
Any hope for SACD? I was thinking that SACD was analogous to HDTV, but I guess not.
marantz sa-7s1 vs marantz sa-1 Well, it was 10 whole years ago, but I was extremely impressed with the SA1 in the Joseph Audio room at the NY stereophile show with his 7si (?) floorstanders I think, both in sacd and redbook.I think the room was voted one of the best rooms.
Clearwave Symphonia 72R Speakers Have the Clearwave owners or listeners heard other Accuton-driver speakers such as Kharma 3.2s and thought they were similar? I like the out-of-box imaging from the Accuton.
What are the best small not bookshelf speakers? Lahave Melas. OMG these are great. Passive woofer (along with regular woofer) provides uncanny natural bass. Highs are exciting but not painful. Vocals are like my (former) Apogee Stages.

Harbeth hl5 vs Dali Euphonia SM4 Interesting post to me because I used to own SHL5s and sold them because I found them to lack enough definition, and I also have the Sonus Faber Cremona Auditors and find these to have significantly more definition and insight into the music and e...
Shunyata ztron power vs cx cables... I have always used Anacondas over the last 10 years and have several models (Alpha, VX, Helix, CX). The funny thing is that sometimes one is better than the other, regardless of which is newer. In my current system, after much experimentation, I u...
A reasonably priced CD player with volume control Used Accuphase 75V.Used EMM CDSD/DCC2 has the integrated preamp (2 boxes though, probably not what you had in mind).
Very small Integrated and speakers used Get a pair of used Quad 9Ls and run them directly off of your Iphone/Ipod/Ipad/laptop or better yet a used half-decent cd player. Surprisingly good sound for little money. I have them on my computer.
MacBook Pro to EMM XDS1 I actually owned the MPS5 for a while and did hear a more prominent upper bass, but it was actually a negative for me and I found it a little blurry and had the impression it was there when it wasn't supposed to be. This was based on many CDs I wa...
MacBook Pro to EMM XDS1 Good luck on this, I'd be curious too.Of course, CDs are so cheap these days and the XDS1 just uses some alchemy to turns these cheap old discs into gold that almost sounds like SACD that it's almost not worth the trouble to me. I can't believe ho...
Buddy Holly and Elvis on SACD Thanks mapman, any leads on CDs for late 50s/60s remasters would be welcome if you could post them. By the way, I saw your systme and I also have a pair of Ohms on a separate system (Walsh 4s) that have been serving me well since 1985.Thanks again.
Any opinions? Dartzeel 108B or Ypsilon monos I love the Dartzeel sound everytime I have heard it.(OK, I heard them just a few times, bit it was nice.)
AR repair in SF bay area If you are devoted to these I would probably cast my net nationwide and ship them to someone who knows what they are doing. Check Audio circle or the classic loudspeaker pages. Shipping is probably only $150 anywhere by Fedex or UPS,including boxing. |
