Usher DMD tweeter upgrade: worth it? I see several people saying that this driver can be purchased for less than $200 from Taiwan. Where can this be bought? If I am going to experiment, I rather risk $200 than $700.
Recommended amplification? You can get some nice integrated amps in the $750 range.
Recommended amplification? The $500 price point is a tough one. NAD, Creek, and Rotel are the first that come to mind. The good lower price integrated amps go pretty fast, so you'll have to check often and be ready to jump when one that fits your preferences and budget show...
Recommended amplification? Are you looking for another receiver, and integrated amp, or a preamp and power amp?Which model of Walsh speakers are you now using? You'll probably get plenty of suggestions if you can provide a few more details.
Bel Canto Evo II or S300 I've owned both at the same time and I think that the S300 is faster than the Evo and brings out a bit more of the recording room cues. The highs are better delineated as well. Now, the Evo II is warmer with a slightly fuller bass and mid-bass. I l...
Thorens TD-126 Mark III No luck on the gauge at all. I ended up replacing the entire arm with an SME III. This arm aligns easily and has a VTA adjustment, not to mention sounding better than the factory arm.The spacers are just little plastic tabs in different thicknesse...
CJ sound I owned the 17LS and I thought it was a very good preamp. The volume control is wonderful and the minimal gain stages provide a transparent sound. You can change its coloration to match your bias/preference by using different types of tubes. I don...

Thorens TD-126 Mark III The alignment gauge that comes with the turntable serves two functions; one is to set the overhang, which can be done with a variety of tools. The second is to set the cartridge height in the head shell by using different thickness spacers. I have...
Ohm C2 Woffer Replacement Ohm is usually tight-lipped about which drivers they use. You might be able to determine the model with some searching on the Internet and find a substitute/upgraded driver. Here is a place to try for help:http://layneaudio.hypermart.net/repair.htm
Headphone Recommendations The Sennheiser HD-595 is close to your budget and I used these as a replacement for my 650's, which I thought were too boring. The HD-555 is also a less expensive second option.
Class D Amps - FM reception I have my vintage tuner sitting right besides (6 inches away) two Bel Canto S-300 amplifiers and have had no trouble with FM interference. I am using a small passive FM antenna located about 1 foot above the tuner.
Anyone know a good source for boxes for speakers? Try your local Mail Boxes etc. or the UPS/FedEx shipping store. I had a set of boxes made locally to ship some full range Marin Logan electrostatics. The boxes were better material than the manufacturer and about half the cost.Rick
Aurum Cantus Leisure 2 vs Quad 12L You can improve the sound of your Mini-Grands with a replacement crossover. I replaced mine about 3 years ago and I'd never go back to the original crossover from Apogee. Times and technology have changed, but the ribbons are still far ahead of bo...
