Best speaker for a 40 watt tube amp While you will have a few choices thrown at you I'll start by suggesting a speaker from Coincident Speakers. Extremely efficient and your 40 w/ch would be most palatable...
Sand bags under a cdp - didn't work well Well I tried the 12" innertube and the results were much more pleasing to my ears!!! The definition increased but not at the expense of increased harshness. Will now experiment with weight on top of the cdp (ensuring the tube has sufficient air to...
Help With My Next Upgrade Please For DVD/Cd/SACD - the new Sony 9000ES, for Cd/SACD the new Sony 333Es "platter" if only for cost, for cd only look into the new Diva line by Arcam as a potential option. There are rumblings on multi-format players that may be out after the CES - I...
Sand bags under a cdp - didn't work well Tx for the reply. I also tried BDR cones (#3) and had the same experience. Will try and locate a tube this weekend for trial. Like your suggestions - cheap tweaks first!!!

How did U get into this expensive hobby? Started in the mid eighties with a Sony receiver, Dual turntable and a pair of brand X speakers. Bought a less powerfull HK receiver a year later and found out about high current. Jumped to small Magnepan speakers and a Bryston preamp/amp combo. W...
Best new amp under $2k? I love my Bryston 4BST which can be had for less than $2K new. Another choice might be )although I have not heard them) the Odyssey Stratos monoblocks - getting much more exposure and have been discussed over the last week or so and right at your ...
Mapleshade Vibration Control As a newcomer to isolation issues I am inquiring as to the potential use of a slab of marble on top of a cdp or dvd to assist in vibration control - any thoughts????
Your 5 Fav Rock Concerts Kiss/Cheap Trick in 75,Peter Frampton/J. Geils Band in 76, ELO in 75, Elton John in 82, Blue Oyster Cult in 76, Bon Jovi in 95 (took my 13 year old son for his birthday - band sounded good but couldn't keep my eyes off the women in the audience...

Krell, Classe or Bryston? As a follow-up to a fellow Albertan, I too have heard the Sim W-5 and loved it. Was it worth twice the price of my 4BST - not to my ears with my 1.5's. I think as a stand alone amp it would do a nice job on the 3.6's and would give it serious cons...
Krell, Classe or Bryston? I think there are many good choices out there but if I had to pick one I would suggest that you try out a pair of Bryston 7BST monoblocks. These coupled with a nice tube preamp would do the 3.6s justice...
Amp+Cords or New Amp, best bang for $$$ I'm in agreement with Dekay as to the pc issue - it is all over the place - try before you buy! You have a very nice system now and I think that better amp would make more of a difference than a lesser amp with an aftermarket pc. IMHO, trading you...
Mapleshade versus Stealth Is this still another thread that will turn into a number of accusatory issues???? Keep the personal attacks to yourself and let people write (or say) what they may. If anyone here is prone to run out and get something as a result of someone's emb... |
