kt77 vrs kt120 in Rogue M180s
I have Rogue M180s and run them with Gold Lion KT88s. My small tubes are Telefunken. I tried KT120s and didn't care for them. There was a bit more bass but at the expense of the holographic soundstage my system normally gives. That wasn't a trade ...
Building a house with dedicated stereo room-advice
The Wattgate 381 outlet is another option to consider.
Which tubes to spend the most money on in a PV-5?
I have a Rogue preamp and they replied to my email about which were the critical positions. Perhaps CJ would similarly help you. I think, however, that the signal position is the more critical, the driver secondary. It sure would be nice if CJ wou...
Brass footers for speakers
I use custom made stainless steel Soler Points and love them, so that's another option. They can also be had in brass but we all use the steel ones.
Devore Silverback Refrence VS Egglestone Nines
I have not heard either of the speakers but want to comment about the The Nines speakers. I have friends whose ears I trust greatly and they like the Eggleston speakers a lot.The thing about the Eggleston speakers that would interest me is that th...
Tube Monoblocks in the 5-7K Range
The Rogue M180s are excellent amps and worthy of audition. Degree of warmth of course can be tuned by changing tubes. Another amp in your price range are the Jolida Fusion. I haven't heard them but would be curious. However, while Jolida is good v...
Rogue Audio Tempest ii and Tempest iii
I just wanted to second Stevtt's preference for triode mode on the amplifier regardless of whether the active gain is used. Also, I have the M180 monoblocks and have been using Gold Lion KT88s in them since I got them three or so years ago. I recen...
Rogue Audio Tempest ii and Tempest iii
The active line stage is quite nice and makes the amp capable of working with more speakers. But you definitely should get one with the Magnum or Super Magnum kits. The demo unit in our local shop has the Super Magnum kit and sounds quite good. It...
Top monitors 3K - 6K range
This extends past your budget a bit but the Silverline Reference 17 Supreme is nice. Swap out the capacitor for a Duelund VSF and the resistor for a Duelund or Mundorf and you would have a very nice speaker. The speaker is great even with no cross...
KT120 on Copland CTA-405 integrated amp
I put the KT120s in my amps and didn't find them as holographic or organic as my Gold Lion KT88s. The120s were a little weightier in the bass but that alone wasn't sufficient for me to leave them in the system. The GL KT88s are twice as expensive ...
Can "Dark"Sounding Speakers Be "Brightened"UP???
If you are limiting the knobs in your system that you want to turn to your speakers, they can brightened up most likely by replacing the caps with brighter sounding ones.
Rogue Cronus Magnum new with KT120's
You may want to verify that there is an increase in power. I tried them in my M180s and there isn't an increase in power, they just aren't run as hard. Compared to my Gold Lion KT88s there may have been slightly more bass but lost was the transpar...
The best preamp for Rouge M-180
The Rogue Athena or Hera would be nice. I use a 99 Magnum with my M180s but am considering upgrading.
Canton Reference 5.2 dc
I have listened to the 890 a lot but done a side-by-side comparison with a Reference 5 only briefly. The Reference speaker had a richer sound and was more coherent. The sound approached that of my Silverline Bolero speakers. If I were building a s...
Soliloquy 6.5 speaker
In what way is the midrange driver damaged? I used to own a pair of 6.5's and hope you can get them up and running, they are certainly nice speakers.
