Tom Evans Groove X, Aesthetix Rhea or JLTI Artemus, I found the JLTI to be a significant step up from the Wright in terms of resolutions and detail. In comparison the Wright sounded veiled, closed in and very diffuse in spatial resolution.I had the JLTI which uses the RCA loading plugs and...
Tom Evans Groove X, Aesthetix Rhea or JLTI I frankly preferred the JLTI in a direct comparison with the Rhea - the JLTI offered more detail, more refinement, more control in the bass with some of the best separation between instruments of any phonostage. Not quite the rich tonal colours of...
Preamp for First Watt F3?? Easy answer: the FirstWatt B1 - difficult to match Pass' design with his own amps.
Michell - FULL or UNICOVER for a table? I would contact a local acrylic shop and get one custom made. I got one made out of 1/4 inch acrylic for around $150. Take a look at my system pics:Picture of dustcover
Weiss Dac2 - anyone use upgraded feet on it? Respect - hmm... :)I am using the standard feet on the Weiss DAC2 - I did not notice much difference when moving around the Weiss onto different platforms or so. The rubber feet on the DAC2 are probably better than the audiophile approved footers ...
Weiss Dac2 - anyone use upgraded feet on it? I'm sure it would take it to a new level.Yes a new level - 5mm above the shelf.
Which cartridge do you use with the vpi classic? I loved my Lyra Argo when I used it with the JLTI. The new Lyra Delos may be a great option. The Argo replaced a Denon DL103R...after moving to the Argo I I just couldn't stand listening to the DL103R anymore. The DL103R is good but not anywhere n...
"budget" phono ic's I second the Blue Jeans - very affordable cable, good and works in many systems.
Best Hard Drive and Enclosure for Music Server Macdadtexas.I don't understand why the noise from a Drobo would bother anything? Mine are in another part of the house.Another part of the house would be in the bedroom or the bathroom in my 1-bedroom place ;) The Drobo is otherwise very nice, but...
Best Hard Drive and Enclosure for Music Server Unfortunately the Drobo was too noise for my taste (even with WD Green Caviar drives). The only way to get really quiet storage is to go for a bunch of 2.5'' drives, which are quite a bit more expensive though (and only availabel up to 500-640GB).

Lavry DA11 and Apogee Rosetta 200 users Another professional DAC you may consider is the Weiss DAC2. The commercial "Hifi" version of the DAC2 is the Minerva which costs a full $2k more.I would put the Weiss DAC2 in a different class from the Lavry, Benchmark DAC1 USB, and Apogee (I own...
Naim Aro to replace my Schroder No. 2? Completely agree with Doug. Also, if it was lifted from a DPS it may be a highly upgraded version of the No.2 (usually Reference Magnets and Reference wiring) and even be a bit further up the Schroeder chain.
Help designing mac mini music server Take a look here for some good information and discussion:computeraudiophile.comIt all depends on your budget - what quality you want to achieve and how many systems you want to set up and in what quality. For a single system the Mac Mini works ve...
Is Pass Labs Xono An Overkill For Rega P5 TT? The XOno is one of the best values in phonostages IMO - still haven't heard a better SS phono (even though some other I heard are in the $8k price range). |
