Differences btw Blue Heaven & Red Dawn? I have been recently trying several of the Nordost cables. The general flavour is a stripped-down leanness that may appear beneficial in a system that is otherwise too warm or muffled. This leanness makes dynamic contrasts stand out, but Carl may ...
Digital Coaxial Cable 75 ohms choices I will try that plsl. I have already attached damping to the panels of the DAC, but they need all the help they can get because the transformer does not like the 50Hz supply here.
Who still sells NOS Telefunken 6922's? I should have mentioned. The only Holland 6922 is the PQ - there are no Bugle Boy 6922 tubes. The other Holland tubes I referred to are 6DJ8 - compatible with the 6922.
Who still sells NOS Telefunken 6922's? Sorry Craig, I did not see your post. The Bugle Boys are made in Holland, but so too are other Amperex labels like the World label. The downside as mentioned above is noise, but they are still the only 6922 I would put in, say, the Sonic Frontiers...
Digital Coaxial Cable 75 ohms choices Thanks for the review and comments. What you say is what I hear when a jitter device improves things. Sometimes the jitter device does the reverse when it is just plain out of context - like if you put an Ultra JitterBug with the Theta combination...
Does power cord length matter? More is better, but up to a point. More can be better because of the filtering effect of the power cable. Generally lengths shorter than 5 feet sound worse than a 5 foot cable. But lengths greater than 10 feet sound worse than a 10 foot cable. Som...
JPS Labs (Redkiwi) Hi Scott. I have sent you an email today.
Digital Coaxial Cable 75 ohms choices Hi, sorry for my slow return of posts - I am usually away somewhere on weekends - NZ is an outdoors kind of place. Thanks Mikec, I just try to stick to what I have heard, rather than hearsay, if you know what I mean. I agree with Albert Porter tha...
Why can't my components just get along? Sorry. You guys are right that there is probably something wrong other than the power strip. I limited my post just to the topic of the power strip which will be killing the sound - but probably not causing the distortion.
Where do you put your TV/equipment? I reckon kids are very trainable, you just have to be firm and consistant. The problem comes when the visiting children arrive. The AV/Stereo problem is certainly tricky. I don't have this problem, but a friend solved this by building a false wall...
Digital Coaxial Cable 75 ohms choices Albertporter you are whetting my appetite to try some Purist cables. I doubt anyone here in NZ carries them, but maybe West Island (some call it Australia) has some.
JPS Labs (Redkiwi) I will have to look in "the cupboard", but I have several lengths of unterminated JPS Superconductor cable, mainly 1 to 2 metres, and one terminated (by JPS) pair of interconnects - I think around 3m or so, RCA. Anyone want some DH Labs interconne...
Why can't my components just get along? NEVER EVER use a power strip. The better the system the less musical it will sound if you use such things. They create both a bottleneck for current and are a magnet for noise. A good system will choke on it and reveal the noise in all its painful...
JPS Labs versus Audio Quest (Megasam?) I have some JPS lying around gathering dust. I do not think it is anything more than competent. For me it falls into the category of many other solid core cables - it smooths over anything nasty going on in your system and rolls off the top and bo...
Best female vocals on CD Having just caught up with this post, I am going to break some of the truce. But there is an important point here. For those of us deep into jazz, there is something about jazz that many audiophiles do not get. Jazz is cerebral as well as emotiona... |
