How can I shield cables from interference? Don't bother to shield AC cords. They sound better unshielded. There is self-shielding involved with a twisted pair and that is all that is necessary other than keeping signal wires at least an inch from the power cords....
Reversed Polarity LP Cuts - Examples? Gad, half of the CDs out there have reversed phase and a good 1/3 of the vinyl have reversed phase....For those without phase switches the Reference Recordings final movement of Symphony Fantastique is duplicated on an extra disc which is out of p...
experience with TG audio tonearm cable? Hell, I'm slower than that! The reason the TG HSR works so well is I drive the heck out of it on a break-in rig for a while before shipping.....Musicdoc, I would make do with the VDH for a while and do the new High Purity TG HSR as it is quite a b...
Which components knocked you out on first listen? Twenty some odd years ago I was blown away by a Keith Monks record cleaning machine.....Nitty Gritty came out with a machine for $350 and had to have one.....Wore it out and bought a VPI RCM.....A few years ago I found Optrix and it made CDs sound...
Harvey Rosenberg: Did he or didn't he...... Yep, been there, but it was the mid eighties....Bought some speakers from them which used Strathern ribbons and leaf tweeters.......Harvey was the Tube God and the place was an industrial park built like a bomb shelter....
Anyone with kids should see this... Just say NO Poor Voodoo! Thank goodness you didn't have to use a Holy Hand Grenade to rid yourself of the foul, vile and blood thirsty creature as Arthur, King of the Brits, had to when searching for the Holy Grail.....
Arcam Binding Posts I've tried all the esoteric posts and keep returning to the Superior Electric posts that can be purchased from Allied Electronics.....These are the originals, not copies as everyone copied these....They don't look like much, but they beat up WBT, ...
Classe "omega" vs Pass Labs X600 Nealhood, I understand the new Ford performs better than their older models as well, but don't see them stepping up to update their older models.....The performance of HCA-3500 is what it is and it did not do very well in the market on account of ...
Classe "omega" vs Pass Labs X600 Muralman1, something we at CTC learned with the preamp project is that it takes excellence in electrical design, parts and layout to make anything really kick ass....The JC-1 started as an absolutely unlistenable Parasound HCA-3500 Curl sent me to...
Why do AC cords make so much difference? Hdm, I wouldn't know as have not had a ground in over twenty years....The ground in my house only extends as far as kitchen, baths and laundry....
Why do AC cords make so much difference? Has anyone here measured the capacitance between primary and secondary of a toroid transformer as opposed to an EI core? You will find about ten times as much capacitance with the toroid compared to a twin bobbin EI core which allows a sneak path ...
Let's forget about being politically correct Asa, call a spade a spade, the Valhalla is set up for those audiophiles that are into watching tennis matches....This goes for the speaker wire and SE interconnects.....
Classe "omega" vs Pass Labs X600 Not familiar with the big Classe, but have several customers in Illinois who have sold Pass 600s in favor of the Parasound JC-1s.....Email me if you would like to speak with them as they don't participate here....Parasound made me a dealer for the...
Let's forget about being politically correct Asa, your 4-11 post should be required reading as it defines what is sought by those that are serious about being transported to the recording venue.....This is the tough part and where most systems and components fail be they tube or solid state....
"Best" cable elevators? Mshan, wood isn't a very good insulator at all, but ceramic is....Keep the wires at least 2" off the floor and use as few isolators as possible.....I use the Right Way Audio Suspendors which are pretty expensive, but ceramic flower pots 6-8" in he... |
