The Rite of Spring The 1976 Sir Colin Davis recording with the Concertgebouw (I believe) on Philips is my favorite reading, with excellent sonics. Was available on CD, may still be. I have a couple of SACDs of it, but haven't listened to them yet, will report when I...
NJ Audio Society? The only change from what Rdean posted is the URL address, which has changed to http://njas.gngdiscoveries.com/. I'd suggest just contacting me, preferably at the Zaisgroup address above, for more information.Rdean, while you're racing your Porsch...
NJ Audio Society? Barry--feel free to contact me, I'll give you the information.Russ
Classical Music on the Radio Also see about getting WQXR. Your local NPR station might also have some classical shows, though in my area (NYC area) they seem to have less and less classical programming.A lot of stations, like FMT and QXR, are available over the internet--a fr...
Who can convert single ended to balanced? I think there might have been another company that made upgraded EQ boxes for Thiel 3.5s (the speaker that hooked me on high end, by the way), but I don't recall them, maybe others might chime in here. Is it possible Marchand might do something li...
Who can convert single ended to balanced? Wasn't there a company, I think it was JPS, that made a modification for the Thiel 3.5 EQ box called the Golden Flute? You might contact them--not sure if it's the same company as the one that makes cables now, but worth a try.
Two KSA 80B power amplifiers I owned a KSA 80 for a number of years. I recall that Krell offered the option to convert the KSA80 into a KMA 160 at the factory, but I don't recall that mine was bridgable. You probably should give Krell a call.
Best cables for Jadis DA88 Signature amplifier By the way, Milimetr, you're following the same path I did as well in coming to Jadis--I had an ARC SP-11 MkII and Classic 150 monoblocks for many years that I traded in for Jadis. It is a different direction, and each brand has its strengths, but...
Best cables for Jadis DA88 Signature amplifier I use the K-S with my JP200 preamp, but it is a little different than the normal Jadis preamp in that it uses EF86 tubes and thus is not rolled off in the highs as much as my old JP80 that used the 12AX7s. I suppose you could call the K-S a midran...
Best cables for Jadis DA88 Signature amplifier I have used Purist, Siltech and now Kubala Sosna Emotion with my Jadis equipment with excellent results.
Nova Memory + DAC or top class CD player? And if you live in the NJ/NYC/CT area, you can give me a call and I can let you hear the Memory Player through the EMM Labs and Audio Logic DACs and compare it to the EMM Labs CDSD/DAC2 combination in my system. Agree with Eclectic ear, the MP has...
Shindo lab pre amps I have heard the Shindo and the Lamm L2 at CSA and also preferred the Shindo. Both are excellent, but the Shindo has a little more of the tube virtues (space, natural bloom, etc.) that I value highly than the Lamm did. That would make some sense, ...
replace a full Cello System? I tend to agree with those who say that you just replace the speakers and, probably, the amps, but keep the current front end. There's nothing out there that can really match what the Palette does. For speakers, perhaps some Dali or Totem speakers...
Has anyone tried refinishing your speakers..... I can't speak to Sonus Fabers, but I had asked Thiel about this when I had some old CS3s that I wanted to sand down and stain darker. The thing with Thiels, and many speakers, is that the veneer is so thin that you're taking the chance of going th...
Preference for separate phono stages? And Jadis. |
