DAC or Music Server
I have been thru the dedicated Mac mini server running pure music or audirvana 2.x then later moving to the Auralic Aries music server, both front ending a dac. Then sold the Aries and selling the dac and moved to a ps audio directstream with brid...
Going from computer audio to dedicated streamer
Went from a nice Mac/audirvana setup to the auralic Aries and a big jump in performance. The Aries was hooked up to my w4s dac 2 dsd using a aq diamond USB. Since the Aries had a Fenton clock in it, I didn't need to use the w4s recovery USB recloc...
INTEGRATED CHOICES AND ADVICE PLEASE
I would look at the rogue Cronus magnum with the kt-120 tubes if you prefer tubes. Very nice. The only problem is that it made my usher speakers a little wooly in the bass. I went with the Hegel h300 and couldn't be happier, 250 watts to control t...
Aurender N100H or Auralic Aries?
Auralic! I compared both and I liked the Aries better and purchased it. I think the cache in the aurender is a gimmick. You don't need a cache that big unless you want to store hundreds of albums which is unrealistic. Plus with the Aries, I used b...
Audiophile quality streamer/server-in-one without a DAC. Does this exist?
I looked at most of the streamers that are mentioned in this thread and ended up with the Auralic Aries, I thought it had better sound quality than all of those mentioned without some of the gimmicks like 128/256G of flash. The Aries app DS Lightn...
Why does the aurender N100h sound so bright and edgy
I didn't like the aurender line of server, the sound and some of the gimmicks they promoted, so I bought an auralic Aries and was glad I did. I have since sold that and went the directstream bridge II route and couldn't be happier.
Dealers That Sell Large Volumes of Used Gear Online
I just did 2 transactions with Underwoodwally. Nice guy to talk to, great prices, I don't like the No return policy but I knew what I wanted so it was a non-issue
Absolute top tier DAC for standard res Redbook CD
How about the latest directstream with the bridge II installed. Sounds very good to me compared to a lot of dacs listed here. Using the bridge, it uses  I2S internally. Finally I'm able to get rid of USB which I used for many years either going fr...
Paradigm and Revel
I have not heard a paradigm I liked! I have liked all the revel speakers I have heard. IMO, the studio and salon II speakers are very very good and some of the best speakers for their price and above. From what I have seen at friends or in stores,...
Please Critique my Setup and Recommend Upgrade(s)
I used to have a 13x13x8 ft room. I had a pair of large speakers at 1st and I couldn't get them to sound any good. So I went with a pair of Totem Model 1's which are fantastic speakers, but I was missing the low end. After going thru different amp...
PS Audio Directstream Junior
i'm using the bridge II for my audio streaming from my mac mini running OS X server. On the OS X server, i'm running minimserver, minimwatch, minimstreamer, bubbleupnp, and my ripped audio files are on a raided pair of 5TB disks. I use the Lumin i...
Absolute top tier DAC for standard res Redbook CD
How would the PS Audio Directstream Jr compare to these dacs that have been stated In this thread?
Very Bad purchase from upscale audio Acoustic Zen Adagio
You have to think about resale values. You probably couldn't get what you paid for then. I would get a refund for the difference amount you think someone would pay for them and the amount you paid. Anything different get a full refund. I will neve...
Tidal and Streaming player
I looked at most of these music servers and decided on the Auralic Aries for my audio room and the Auralic Mini for my living room. Fantastic user interface and sound. I thought the SSD in the arenders is a gimmick and it didn't offer anything mor...
Best standalone music server?
Check out the auralic Aries. There is no internal disk because you don't want one in the unit. You get a 2TB disk now and what happens when you need more storage? How are you going to back it up? Another hard disk drive? Noise noise nois. Also, wh...
