Empirical Audio Synchro mesh reclocker, anybody?
Empherical audio/audioengr promotes his products quite often in these forums. They are not hard to find
I'd like to upgrade my speaker wire
Millercarbon-you need to buy jim smiths book on how to get better sound. Jim states to never put your gear in the middle between the speakers, put your gear on the side. So depending on where the poster has his gear, you could have some long runs....
TIDAL Master Quality
Shadorne - you might be right with the benchmark dac, I always thought it was a  terrible dac, but with the DS, I don’t agree. I also have the PSA DS dac and I think MQA sounds better than an equivalent cd or even vinyl. Since cd gets converted to...
TIDAL Master Quality
Shadorne - not a chance MQA sounds worse than cd. Do you also think dsd and hires sound worse than cd? You might need a better setup to take advantage of MQA
Amplifier current vrs watts; why is current more important?
Andy2-you were a little off on your car comparison. Wattage/current is kind of like a car horsepower/torque. Torque is your bottom end power. Torque will get you off the line much faster or when you want to pull away. Some cars could have decent h...
Reel to reel
Using the Otari at 15ips, the recordings were as good as vinyl but never better. How can it get better or more info from the source? Every room at an audio show that played R2R always had a Tape Project tape, not a recording from an album. I think...
Power - where to start? Mains, chords, conditioner, filter?
Some power conditioners can actually degrade the SQ of your system. Right now, I’m using a whole house surge suppressor connected at the meter and my ps audio amp plugged straight into the wall. I’m not worried about surges/lightning strikes damag...
Reel to reel
I have been down the R2R route a couple of times during the last 20 years with a pioneer rt901 and the otari 5050BL. The Otari is a much better deck with balanced input/outputs and 15ips. 10” tapes are pricey and at 15ips, it doesn’t take long to ...
I need your suggestion for a Preamp.
Check out the McIntosh c52 or it’s brother the c47. I bought the C47. It has 2 phono inputs: 1 for mm, 1 for mc, and a nice built in dac. TAS did a review on the C52 last year if you want more info
Should I expect a discount from dealer for buying and installing complete system
Get multiple bids and visit other dealers for different pieces. IMO the dealer thinks he’s got you hooked and doesn’t need to negotiate. Tell him you are going to get multiple bids and listen to other systems and he might comeback with a better deal.
Yamaha integrated amp as3000 vs Pass integrated
IMO, a more neutral sounding amp compared to the 3 talked about here would be a Hegel H300/H360. If you are looking for a warmer integrated, check out a newer McIntosh.
Soundstaging and Imaging: The Delusion about The Illusion
If we are built for stereo, why are mono pressings (done right) so much better than the stereo versions? I have been in many demonstrations where they have played a stereo version then a mono version with a much cheaper cartridge and the mono vers...
New Amps Arrived...
I have had many Totem speakers: Mani 2’s (multiple pairs for a couple different rooms), Arros, and Model 1’s and they were very good, The hawks and forest speakers are also nice. With those amps, a move up would be to the Winds if you want to stay...
Unbalaned to Balanced
How can someone say balanced doesn’t make a difference? Also, who cares if some amps only have rca connections? It’s irrelevant. If the equipment is truly balanced, use balanced. Balanced cables have better connectors, support much longer length, ...
The Science of Vinyl/Analog Setups
For you measurement types, based on the following specs, how are each of these cartridges going to sound? Since I have had both, I know if the specs actually tell the difference in sound quality. Frequency Response: 10Hz - 60kHzChannel Separation ...
