New Mag-Lev Turntable I think that Rega is defective and not representative of their tolerance standards.BTW, if it is not, what does one bad design have to do with another?
Newbie question-- where to throw my frogskins next? Front end. Buy something that you can build the rest of your system around moving forward. For $1000 to 1500 there are plenty of really nice used turntables to be had, as well as cartridges, as a package.Once you have that set, a decent phono pre-...
New Mag-Lev Turntable Look at the wobble in the platter, duh!
New Mag-Lev Turntable What holds true for macro vibrations, hold true for micro.
New Mag-Lev Turntable Ok, that video answered some questions for me. Hit the platter and it wobbles side to side while the arm remains static. How in the world is that suppose to track without distortion and possibly skipping. Now, if they levitated the arm on a beam c...
What drugs do you use to enhance your listening experience? Music is a drug, silly!
New Mag-Lev Turntable I think that air bearing tone arms are considered rigid, and they fall within the same tolerances as standard bearings. I'm not so sure that this magnetic platter design does. From the video you can clearly see a large variance where the platter d...
Starting over with vinyl I prefer analog but that said vinyl is not cheap and at 20 to 40 bucks an album can be considered expensive. 2.00 albums are no longer and those at that price are chewed up.CDS on the other hand are out of style and cheap. 1 to 2 dollars is the go...
Starting over with vinyl Why not both! you already have a cd player.
New Mag-Lev Turntable I would think that anything that separates the platter and tone arm, allowing either to be suspended independently from the other would be a problem.
New Mag-Lev Turntable That was supposed to be suspended.
New Mag-Lev Turntable I'm still not getting how a spended platter and direct coupled tonearm to the plinth is suppose to be a good thing.Major issues with that, I would think.
Cartridge recommendations I personally love the 103. Modded either nude or in an after market body it sounds very good. My experience tells me it needs to be loaded at around 400-500 ohms and then it sings with the best of them. At 100 ohms it is a bit closed in and blah!
Cartridge recommendations Again, what do you mean by electrode?
Cartridge recommendations What the heck is an electrode on a cartridge, Do you mean one of the pins? Can you post a picture? |
