Evaluating a system - what do you listen for?
The problem with what many say they are looking for is that the recording may not contain it. Mainly, you really can only hope for truth to the source with no limitaions or added distortions. Your system can be a window to the source, Alhough, som...
Loudon
I've worked with and recorded Loudon on 3 live gigs. He is a very nice, witty and engaging man. His performances are always a treat and I view it as an honor to have captured them.
The Final Answer
Good to hear that your journey has led you back home. "We spend half of our life leaving home and the other trying to return."

I want an accurate timbre  recreation of what's on the recording. That and 3 demensionality,  as well as, the ability to handle dynamic swings.
More from VPI!
Yes, and I kind of like that look over the Levinson.

Well, the chassis incorporates the same concept as my Thorens TD850, which is a proprietary layer covering a MDF/steel sandwich. Mine was designed by Acoustic Signature, though, and has their unique bearing, spindle and platter construction. I'm a...
VPI Scout or GEM Dandy PolyTable
If your VTA is good you can just shim it in the future, if you replace the cartridge. The rewiring is another smart move on your part.
VPI Scout or GEM Dandy PolyTable
If you can wedge something between your stand and wall to give it a secondary place to rest against it will stabilize it further. It sounds like you have done a nice job of modding and updating your table. A bit of dynamat placed on the chassis wou...

Use a stand that you can bolt to the wall. Rega makes a nice one. Also, changing out your tone arm for a better one will go a long way towards improving your sound.Jelco and Rega work well and will fit the size of your arm board. You'll need to re...
VPI Scout or GEM Dandy PolyTable
I would upgrade and modify the 150 and you'll have a table that will be as good and maybe better than both. However, if you must part it either table is nice and should be auditioned. Btw, f you want to sell your 150, contact me.
Having difficulty installing Grado cartridge on a Rega turntable
Rega arms and grado  cartridges are not incompatible. I'm not sure where you heard that one.But whatever you have going on is something totally diferent.
can we get to the bottom of what "rare" means in a FS banner
It means it is "not well done".
Smooth Jazz ---- Well recorded redbook CDs compilations.
George Benson Breezin . ...probably the sound that started it all.
Can an old Thorens Table be "Over Dampend" to the point where sound is adversely effected?
Russmakeartist,Although some of the materials I have used varies from yours, I concur with your application and too found that it has improved the sound of the 150's and 160's series of tables.
