Pioneer PL-550 Cartridge and Needle
There are plenty to choose from but I would look at Denon, AT, Benz, ect. or possibly a Grado. I wouldn't spend too much on the Cartridge possible $100 tops. BTW, what did you pay for this and why did you choose a direct drive unit when Pioneer ma...
which budget DVD player for output to DAC?
I would also like to get some feedback on cheap transports. I don't think it is too late to be using external DAC's and for me there are a number of reasons why it makes a lot of sense. I'm presently using a MSB Gold Link III. I want the transport...
I'd like to buy a cd recorder . Please help.
Buy a HHB burn it 830 or an Alesis master link. They are the only real good options.
How good is the Philips 963SA as CD transport?
I'm not sure if the latter few responses are inregards to this as a CDP or as a transport, which I think the original question was regarding its capabilities as a transport.
I need more cowbell....
For more resolution I agree with the conditioner and the stand rcomendations. I would also add looking at a new DA. I owned the 563 at one time and I would say that it is a good DA but there are others out there that are better and may provide you...
I need more cowbell....
I am always amazed when people ask for upgrade advice, folks give their opinions when it is never discussed what you like or don't like about your present system. When this happens it is a recipe for disaster. Like grasping in the dark, findin a n...
Personal turntable/cartridge evolution
Well, I guess I missed a table or two in there. From 1973-1976 I owned a Garrard table which had a ceramic cartridge. It was an idler wheel job that also had a built in tube amp. My Dad gave me this and I truely enjoyed listening to 45's. I cut my...

MSB can add any type of digital out you want.
Anyone modded Classe CA300?
Depending on how much you want to spend and what your ear likes, I'd say the 300 is as good as most and better than others in its price range. As for mods, it is already filled with contemporary goodies.Depending on the rest of your system you mig...
Any reccomendations for a CD burner?
Considering the Alesis is an all in one unit and can operate as a nice player too, I would not conider it "high" cost. For $1000, you get a hard drive, CD burner, dedicated high rez burner and a very good playback unit.Depending on what the poster...
MSB Nelson DAC Link III, got pictures?
Well, I wish I could assist you further but I can't. I would really recommend contacting MSB directly. I know they would talk you through this on the phone. Good luck and let me know what you find out!
MSB Nelson DAC Link III, got pictures?
I'm not sure but this unit seems to be missing stuff. First, there is no upsampling switch on the back and has an optical instead of an AES in. Also, the internals appear to be missing a board, which contains much of the upsampling chips and jumpe...
Any reccomendations for a CD burner?
The M-audio, Berringer, Edirol, Flying Cow ect. are not nearly as good as the other options listed. These units are made with price as the selling point, thus the parts are usually compromised.FYIW, Oade's do modify the Edirol, which might be a ch...
MSB Nelson DAC Link III, got pictures?
If you call MSB up directly and discribe what the inside looks like they should be able to tell you what you have. Or maybe you could send MSB, or post here, a picture of your unit. There by getting feedback on your usnit. Sorry, I don't own the F...
