JPS Superconductor vs. Aluminata jumpers
I've read that the/my Usher 718BE's are internally wired with JPS cable, so I'm using the Aluminata jumpers to connect the high and low, in conjuction with my Kubala Fascination speaker cable. Whatever is happening here between the different wires...
The best hifi magazine?
I love reading HIFI+. HIFI+ has a way of making me feel good. It’s the best. Lately while reading TAS and Stereophile I find myself getting irritated… with myself… because they’re using words I can't even guess at what they mean. I’ve even resorte...
Members with No Feedback
I’ve also noticed more members with zero feedback, but since everyone has to start somewhere, that doesn’t concern me as much as looking at an ad that reads like a private seller, but isn’t. Some sellers have upwards of 300 to 400 feedback points,...
Just purchased Usher Be-718. Need Help with Setup
I purchased my Usher BE718’s a couple of months ago, and Blue Tacked them to four post Target stands filled with 80 pounds of buckshot and sand. After a lot of fiddling around with placement, I settled in on where I felt they sounded best. Being w...
your experience amp for acoustic zen adagio
When I had my Adagio's, I drove them with a Theta Intrepid 5 channel amp... very sweet.
Need Amp for BE-718, any suggestions?
Veloxant… I listen to everything… I especially love acoustic guitar like Eric Clapton / Unplugged, solo cello, chamber music, and female vocals like Emmylou Harris, Shelby Lynn, to Janis Ian… I’m dating myself here. I personally judge a speaker by...
Need Amp for BE-718, any suggestions?
I’ve been hoping that someone would ask this question since I got my Usher BE718’s. I’m currently driving mine with a multi-channel Theta Intrepid (100 Watts), and they sound amazing. All the reviews say the BE718’s “crave power”. I’ve been thinki...
Usher 718BE or Dynaudio S1.4
Based simply on the reviews, without hearing them, I bought the Usher BE718’s, and I’m really happy I did. In a word, the Usher’s are … spectacular. The Usher’s replaced Acoustic Zen Adagio’s, which are also very special. The Adagio’s were just to...
Who has the best plasma monitor these days
In the Chicago area, Tweeter is/was selling the 50" 720P for $2,295. As mentioned above I just purchased the 42" (because of size restrictions). I got mine at Barretts... for $2,350. Tweeter was sold out of the 42".
Programming the subwoofer on a Theta Casablanca II
I have a Theta Casanova and having read both the Casanova manual (many times) as well as reading the Casablanca manual, I found they were about the same for speaker set up. I experienced the same problem you describe until I realized that you have...
Allison Moorer - Mochingbird
Wouldn’t it be cool if Allison and Shelby teamed up to do a duet CD… with a DVD of the recording session!!!! I got the Trinity Revisited CD/DVD by the Cowboy Junkies, and felt the CD sounded a little up side down… until I watched the DVD and reali...
Who has the best plasma monitor these days
For what it's worth, I'll second what everyone above says about the Pioneers. The angels smiled on me last week when the on/off switch on my Sony 34" CRT TV went bad... and since I wasn't going to haul that 250 pound boat anchor to a repair shop.....
Best Cables for Usher Be718?
I recently purchased a pair of the Usher BE 718’s and was running my mono wired Kubala Sosna Fascination cables to the bottom binding posts with the Usher supplied jumpers going to the tweeter binding posts. I was pretty happy with that setup unti...
Preamp for both 2 channel and Home Theatre
I'll second Rkeman's suggestion that you consider Theta. I went from 2 channel to a Theta Casanova processor and Theta Intrepid 5 channel amp, and I'm real happy... if any of us can truthfully ever say that. The Casanova has two advantages over th...
Shelby Lynne
Patrick_odonnell... Believe it or not, I already have the Gary Louris CD Vagabonds, and I agree with you, that's one mighty fine CD. That guy has more talent in his little finger than half the artists in my entire CD collection. Every song on that...
