Tube Matching and Bias Now that I look at the amp manual it does say to expect this type of bias range - I guess when they say matched it does mean they will bias exactly the same in circuit. It does sound wonderful, so...
Reliable tube integrated for $1000 I would do some research on the Cayin 50T. A superb amplifier overall and incredible for the price point, assuming 35 tube watts is enough for you - 88db or higher sensitivity and smooth impedance on your speakers.
Nos Amperex 12AX7 Bugle Boy's hard to find. Did you try Vintage Tube Services?
Best 6922 tubes for Conrad-Johnson CT6 preamp First of all I would check out RAM Labs and see what 6922s and 6DJ8s they carries and then let Roger Modjeski select a matching pair with low noise or super low noise (proabably a combination) - I don't think there is anyone better in the business...
Goldpoint Passive Preamps Plutos, which TVC?
Music Reference RM9 - user comments please I have not used a TVC, but did have a Placette RVC and Placette Active at one time. I think Roger's Pot-in-a-Box with 30-year old + Noble potentiometer actually sounds better than the Placette RVC. I am curious about the transformer based passives...
Music Reference RM9 - user comments please Very interesting. I've been using the Music Reference Pot-in-the-Box today (just got it) with the CAT JL2 and it blew me away how good this thing sounded in absolute terms, and ridiculous for $135. I've got the RM9 MKII coming next week and am eag...
Goldpoint Passive Preamps Has anyone tried the Goldpoints?
Music Reference RM9 - user comments please Clio09, are you alos using a passive? I just got a "Pot-in-a-Box" from Roger ($135)and I'll be darn it sounds really good. Better than the Joule? We'll see, I need some time with it, but it is a steal based on sound.
Music Reference RM9 - user comments please Is that the Russian tube sold by Upscale Audio?
Joule Electra LA150 MkII or Lamm LL2 Deluxe? You might want to try a Pot-in-a-Box by Music Reference/RAM Labs. It is a $135 passive using a high quality Noble pot (the same one used in by Audio Research in the old days)and it will suprise you how darn good it is compared with some of the act...
Music Reference RM9 - user comments please I have sold my RM10 and a RM9 MKII is on the way. I am very interested to see how it compares with my CAT JL2 - it owuld be nice to go from 16 output tube to 8; if the sound is of comparable performance.
Joule Electra LA150 MkII or Lamm LL2 Deluxe? I think it is the hardest piece in the system to get right for all of us. P.S. CAT SL1s have stepped attentuators.
Joule Electra LA150 MkII or Lamm LL2 Deluxe? I just want to add that from all reports, the Joule 150 MKII (and MKII is important) is a step from the Joule 100s. The MKI is viewed as very neutral, a bit too much in the sense of being a bit lean (which can be a good thing depending on you amp ...
Joule Electra LA150 MkII or Lamm LL2 Deluxe? Mitch2, it is really going to be difficult to get a defintive answer as they truly are both excellent preamps. In my case, I chose the Joule because I thought it provided a bit more body (coloration?) with my CAT amp and Merlin speakers which are ... |
