Most transparent amp you've heard?
Atma-sphere amps, hard to beat no transformer.
fuses - the $39 ones or the 85 cent ones
Newbee, not too judgemental, I think you captured exactly the situation. Now, I just got the Irrational But Efficacious! system enhancement disc from Ayre....

I don't see the connection between one thinking DBT may be a valid form of evaluating differences (I'm not claiming it is or isn't - don't know) and "the everything-sounds-the-same affinity". I don't think everything sounds the same, not in the le...
Best Integrated, period.
I though the problem with DAC "preamps" was the poor quality of the attenuator, as opposed to let's say a Goldpoint Attenuator being used in an Art Audio Carrissa, or a Placette RVC used in a Moscode 400, for example. Good attenuators are not chea...

How would you prove that changing fuses make no difference at all? Or is this really beyond proof. What you are left with is many who hear no difference, and those who claim the differences are noticeable and worthwhile. Of course there are many p...

At a recent Stereophile show they had working groups. In one of these, in the first session (early morning), the speaker said that very few folks were able to tell if they were listening to a 30 watt tube amp, or a 200 Watt, 1980s, Denon amp. I'm ...

I wish they would do this test at RMAF.What would be a low cost $100-200 approach for corner placed bass traps?
What one product has redefined music for you??
Finally listening to OTLs (Atma-spheres). Very different than all the amps I have used before.

Tbg, do you mean down to 200hz or up to 200hz? Controlling bass is the toughest, no? Darn, I guess this should be a new thread, I have some DIY room treatment, but truth is I don't know what I'm doing when it comes to room acoustics (other than I ...

Fafafion, do you need an integrated circuit when you simply add a passive attenuator? I'm not techincal, but I don't see why there any difficulty with this. Now you may or may not like a passive (many do) and prefer an active gain stage, buffering...

The Absolute Sound review of the Pass INT-150 is in the September issue. They said the front on view is "As imposing as a Peterbilt" Neil Gader said "it's sweet and romantic, neutral and warm". Robert Harley in a side bar to the main review, "There...

No. I think that is their first and only.

I think the Pass is basically their X-150 amp with a passive pre, I don't think there should be any complexity or compromise that might occur when building a pre into an amps chassis. Pass certainly knows how to build amps, adding as passive atten...

"Having the fuses in backwards causes the highs to become shrill, forward and hard sounding, bass lacks focus and instruments seem a bit out of sync in relationship to each other. The stock fuses are less dynamic, less transparent, do not image as...
What sounds best integrated or separates?
I think the Pass integrated was recently reviewed in SP or AS.
