which el 84 amp or integrated With standard tubes I would say is neutral. With tube rolling that might be altered, or with a warm preamp (I use a Joule LA150 MKII SE which warmish). As the 6moons review says, it is not honey colored.
which el 84 amp or integrated This thread got me thinking about EL84 again, and inspired me to buy the Music Reference RM10 MKII, again. Certainly a contender for best low watt- if you consider 35 watts low - (non SET) amp in the world.
Art Audio Alana Pre versus Joule Electra 150 MkII The JE 150MKII is on the warm side of neutral, but more resolution that the 100. From Linkster's description of the Alana, it sounds like Joule would be a better choice for what you are looking for (not the 150MKI though, only the MKII which is ve...
Power output of tube amps compared to solid states I remember hear a 30 watt tube amp "versus" a 250 watt SS amp at a Stereophile show, simply to see if people coult tell which was playing in an A/B demo. I don't think the speakers were particularly high efficiency, but the difference in power was...

Designer Hall of Fame John Curl has to be listed somewhere on this list - one of the greats (and cool). Oh, and that fella Williamson too.
Music Reference RM9 - user comments please I asked the question on another forum, you ar sure the 5751 is perfectly ok in the circuit? One thing the RM10 doesn't need is more gain, so I would think that would not be an issue.
Music Reference RM9 - user comments please Now tube rolling:)
Music Reference RM9 - user comments please Anthony, there is another one up for sale. I bought the other. I think they will love your speakers.
Why monoblocks? Well, that's settled:)
Genalex Gold Lion EL84 JJ versus GL? Comparisons?
Music Reference RM9 - user comments please Clio9, after a lot of experimenting, and too came to the conclusion that with my speakers, the EL34 approach worked best, though the KT88s were pretty darn good, and different sounding, a different amp with that tube change.
Music Reference RM9 - user comments please Well, I still own the Music Reference RM9 Special Edition, I still love it, and I don't think I will ever sell it. After a few years, I starting missing my RM10 MKIIs, and bought them again this week - if 35 watts is enough power, it gives the RM9...
Why monoblocks? I agree with Audiofeil's last note completely. Like I said before, monoblocks can be great or mediocre, stereo can be equally great or mediocre, sound quaility is simply not the reason for choosing one format over the other, though there are plent...
Groove Tube EL34LS I have found the RAM Labs Siemens EL34s ($140 pair) to be outstanding EL34s - not cheap, but not crazy either. |
