Experienced audiophiles best speaker
Hi RleffI'm guessing that there aren't too many people really qualified to answer this question, other than maybe a few reviewers and dealers. But it might be hard to get an unbiased opinion from such a person, if they're still in the audio busine...
Experienced audiophiles best speaker
A few observations:-People like the speakers they currently own.-In general, you usually get what you pay for.-There's a difference between favorite and best -Comparing different designs without qualification is silly.Would be nice to hear from so...
Bel Canto Ref 1000 vs. Spectron Musician III Mk 2
My Spectron experience: I currently use the latest Spectron monoblocks with all upgrades, driving Marten Coltranes. My preamp is from Joule Electra. The Coltrane is not particularly insensitive, but the impedance curve is somewhat demanding. The a...
bi amp imrpoving?
Thank you, and sorry for railroading this thread.Hello Simon, For an amplifier with two outputs on each side (such as the Spectron), is there a theoretical or actual advantage to using one output for the low frequency drivers and the other output ...
bi amp imrpoving?
Irvrobinson: The reason I ask is because some amplifier designers (Behold for one) are starting to include active crossovers in their amplifiers.
bi amp imrpoving?
Ngjockey: As I understand it(?), the benefit of biamping is to lower distortion, by providing enough power to each driver, regardless of its impedance. I believe that the goal of a company like Spectron is to build an amp with enough power to do t...
bi amp imrpoving?
Would the use of a single amplifier with megawatt output, used with medium-efficiency speakers, negate any possible additional benefit of biamping?
Behold- Digital crossover
I have a number of room treatments in place, but I think the benefits have been limited. The idea of controlling the speaker's output seems like the future. Recently I noticed a high end 3-way speaker with 3 pairs of binding posts.
16-ohm driver question
Followup: I recently changed the output tranformers for 16 ohm operation. Was easy- just resoldering one wire on each side. Initial impressions: more liquidity, more effortless, less congested. I'm glad I did it.

16-ohm driver question
Thank you Atmasphere!
EMM TSD1 DAC2 Software
Here's the followup: I sent the DAC2 back to EMM, and they were able to do the update. Maybe a problem with my PC, or I didn't do the update correctly. In any case, the unit now works flawlessly. Thanks to EMM for superb customer service.BTW, anyo...
EMM TSD1 DAC2 Software
Since there aren't any bites yet, I'd like to ask the complementary question: Has anyone done the update successfully, without the problem that I describe?
EMM TSD1 DAC2 Software
It is a sonic upgrade. It may also be a functional upgrade- I can't recall.
Ever so slight platter wobble
I own a Teres table with wooden platter. Over the years, the platter developed a minor wobble attributable to shifting or shrinkage of the wood itself. I've spoken to Chris Brady about this, and we both agree that its sonically insignificant if le...
