Considering Harbeth C 7ES-3
The Super HL5plus is DEFINITELY not lacking in treble, either measurably or sonically.  It sounds open and airy.   The C7 didn't sound lacking to me either. The 30.1 was a tad darker sounding than the two above, but still very nice.
Considering Harbeth C 7ES-3
If someone likes the Harbeths, I doubt they'd really like the Spendor floor standers.  They don't have that lush organic sound of the Harbeths.
Considering Harbeth C 7ES-3
I really enjoy whenever I hear the Harbeth 7s and personally, given they have rich bass for their size, I find they do both the "organic Harbeth" sound but are also "fun" for any type of music. Great speaker. Frankly I don’t know lots of speakers ...
Tell us about your acoustic treatments
I did a reno of my two channel listening room (our living room - most of the family’s actual "living" takes place in the back family room), turning it in to dual duty as a projection-based home theater and 2 channel audio room. I involved an acous...
Thiel Owners
@tomthielOver on the AVSforum, there is a thread on the current science of loudspeaker design, essentially touting the "NRC/Harman Kardon" school of speaker design (itself based on lots of prior research). The eminent Floyd Toole responded to an in...
Does anyone have experience with Devore O/96, Tannoy Legacy Cheviot and JBL 4429?
Adam,I love the Devore 0/96 and considered purchasing a pair.A little bit of information that might, or might not be relevant for you:The design of the Devore speakers entails that they need at least 8 feet o beyond listening distance to really co...
Contemplating DEVORE SPEAKERS (and others)....LONG audition report of many speakers
Thanks displayname!I hope so too.But I am self-aware enough to realize it's unlikely I have found an "end-game" speaker in the Josephs, simply due to my own proclivity for liking different aspects of different speakers.I"d say though that of any s...
Black Ash.....
Cripes, had to go to Best Buy recently.  Ended up in the audio/home theater section.  It was nothing but a sea of Black Ash speakers as far as the eye could see (mostly Polk).   The stuff of nightmares.I needed time in my "safe space" afterwards.
Was the Snell Secret a Wide Baffle?
twoleftears,From what I've seen John D say on the subject, it sounded like the Snell speakers were the bigger inspiration for his going the wide baffle route.
What does the term "Speed" mean in a speaker?
In my mind, this is an artifact of tone, not actual driver speed, but since panel and cones couple so differently to a room, panels are often described as fast, while cones as slow. This is not really what’s going on, but whatever. :) Agreed, that...
Joseph Audio Pulsar2 vs dynaudio confidence 20 vs tad-me1
gyoungblood,Interesting analysis, thanks.Fascinating that you reference greater directionality in the upper frequencies of the tweeter used in the Joseph speakers.  They have a wide reputation for a wide sweet spot and consistent sound off axis.
Was the Snell Secret a Wide Baffle?
Erik,I have been lately "seduced" by what seems to be a commonality among some wide-baffle speakers. I’m thinking mostly of Harbeth and Devore O series (may be missing some). Both those speaker lines seem to produce a richer/fuller-than-usual soni...
Contemplating DEVORE SPEAKERS (and others)....LONG audition report of many speakers
I won't be picking them up until sometime next week.
Devore The Nines owners compare The Nines to The Super Nines or ....?
I just bought Joseph Audio Perspective (1) speakers.(And I'm keeping my Thiel 2.7s as well).
Contemplating DEVORE SPEAKERS (and others)....LONG audition report of many speakers
rocrayI sold my Thiel 3.7s a while back, but I'm hanging on to the Thiel 2.7s I've referenced here for, as you say, a different flavor.  It would be very hard to let go of those given I love how they look and their performance is just crazy good f...
