What Matters and What is Nonsense
hifiman5,I respect your experience with your system!I’m not looking to turn the thread into a "cable" thread beyond simply stating my experience and view. And since you asked...Over the years I have had experience with fancy cable. Especially havi...

rbstehno,Your point about synergy is certainly well taken. The idea obviously makes sense. On the other hand, the end of your post seems to imply the common audiophile idea that if you are spending big bucks on speakers (and amps) then one should e...

^^^^^ Ha! Nice one Centurion!  Like it, like it....
Contemplating DEVORE SPEAKERS (and others)....LONG audition report of many speakers
I heard those Spendors sound very impressive at a show.  Though I thought they actually might border on the fatiguing (strange thing to say about any Spendor.  And of course, show conditions...)

ronkent,I was quite interested in the GAIA for quite a while and intended on trying them with the Thiels. However, I ended up buying some Isoacoustic Iso-pucks which I was thinking of using under my turntable platform.  I tried them under one of my...

tomthiel,I look forward to the results of your efforts!I'm a bit gun-shy about messing with the tone of my 2.7s, but if I read some brave soul happy about upgrades I may go for it. (That is, if such upgrades become available for the 2.7).

Improvements are always good. But for me I have to say the last thing on my list I'd write down as "needing improvement" is the cabinet behavior of the 3.7s.I say that because I find the 3.7s to already beat just about any other speaker I've heard ...
What Matters and What is Nonsense
I am in general agreement with the OP.Though I think the section about the importance of the recording methods could essentially have gone without saying. I don’t know any audiophiles - "tweakers" or not - who don’t realize the role the recording/...
Thumbs up for ultrasonic record cleaning
They explain the 120kHz on their web site.As I remember, it's something about the 120kHz making the process more amenable to using simple water and keeping it the right temperature.  They use more power than other machines to approach the cleaning...

uberwaltz,I certainly get that reaction. But...I AM that lazy ;-)I have a pal who always takes the cheaper way out, always looking for a bargain, buying second hand etc.  We have different approaches - he is always willing to spend time and effor...
We give up perspective to avoid tone controls
I generally don’t feel the need for tone controls in my system. I have a nice sounding room, nice accurate speakers, but my CJ amps and pre-amp add a touch of romance. But I also sometimes use my old Eico HF-81 14W integrated amp. It has basic treb...
Thumbs up for ultrasonic record cleaning
Having jumped in with both feet recently back in to vinyl, including purchasing a nice turntable, I’ve been starting to investigate record cleaning. My problem is I’m lazy. Or, at least, uninterested in adding record cleaning as a chore.I enjoy eve...

cellcbern,Thanks for the tip on the Bache speakers. Though I think my journey is at an end (excepting if I get a chance to hear the Magico A3 speakers).I know what you mean about the Devore O speakers not totally disappearing - as I remarked on th...

Thank you bjesien!I love the Thiels and I'm not giving them up!  I'm just a bit greedy, recognize that no speaker will ever do everything, so I like having options.  I have as high quality sources as I will ever have (especially a nice new Transro...
